Anaconda Navigator not working after fresh install #674
I freshly installed Anaconda Navigator 2.4.2. I noticed some issues by spyder not launching. Following the spyder and anaconda troubleshooting documentations, I wanted to update with conda update anaconda. This leads to the following error:
(base) C:\Users\[username]>conda update anaconda
PackageNotInstalledError: Package is not installed in prefix.
prefix: C:\Users\robin\anaconda3
package name: anaconda
I do not have additional enviroments:
(base) C:\Users\[username]>conda env list
# conda environments:
#
base * C:\Users\robin\anaconda3
Here's my anaconda info:
(base) C:\Users\[username]>conda info

Thanks for the additional information. Looks like you have Spyder v5.4.3 installed, but you do not have the anaconda metapackage installed - which is why you were unable to update it. You could probably do conda install anaconda and have that work? What error are you getting when you launch Spyder? You did not include it in your original message. Are you able to launch Spyder from the Anaconda Prompt?
Launching Spyder from the Anaconda Navigator opens this window:
Launching Spyder from the Prompt results in a few seconds of delay before Prompt going back to the base in the command line while neither an error message in the prompt nor the message in the screenshot above shows up.
conda install anaconda installed the package and updating with conda update anaconda now works. The issue with launching Spyder remains.

Can you also provide the output of conda list --show-channel-urls?

Thanks for reaching out!
