If you are manually calling homeSpan.poll() from within the arduino loop() function then you can simply stop calling that to avoid any further HomeSpan action. If you are using auto-polling, you should be able to use vTaskDelete() as you suggest. The function homeSpan.getAutoPollTask() returns the handler for that task. I've not tried this myself, but I think it should work. You can also try vTaskSuspend(), which should halt the HomeSpan auto-polling task and allow resumption if needed.
