Live without any downtime

Ethereum Institutional is an independent non-profit working across the entire Ethereum stack. We translate institutional requirements into credible onchain deployments, so Ethereum becomes the foundational layer for institutional finance.

Latest deployments on Ethereum.

Live deployments by major banks, asset managers and market infrastructure on Ethereum and its layer 2s, each dated to the month it was first seen and linked to its source.

View all 107 deployments

Five focus areas, from day one.

  • Institutional education and engagement

Dedicated engagement with banks, asset managers, custodians, fintechs, market infrastructures, and sovereign institutions to advance tokenization, stablecoin use, and onchain market structure on Ethereum and across its broader ecosystem.

  • Institutional intelligence

Authoritative, neutral research explaining how Ethereum works, where it is headed, and what it enables for institutional users. Our insights help major financial and public institutions evaluate Ethereum, inform internal decision-making, and guide their strategies for building on the network.

  • Ethereum and ecosystem marketing

We present Ethereum as infrastructure for institutional finance and showcase innovation across its ecosystem. By telling clear, credible stories about real deployments and use cases, we expand Ethereum’s presence in institutional finance and increase confidence in building on the protocol.

  • Industry discovery and requirements

We convene practitioners to surface institutional requirements for issuing, custodying and settling assets on Ethereum. We feed this into the ecosystem so standards can be structured, making institutional adoption easier, safer, and aligned around open, neutral infrastructure.

  • Institutional events

We bring leading institutions and Ethereum ecosystem stakeholders together on neutral ground to set priorities, address challenges, and coordinate solutions that drive new partnerships and deployments on Ethereum as foundational infrastructure for institutional finance.

How we work with you.

A team from traditional finance and from Ethereum, with you from the first question to going live and to market.

  1. Step 1: You tell us what you are building

Reach out with what you are building on Ethereum, or what you are looking to build. A member of our team replies within two business days.

    Contact us

  2. Step 2: We blueprint a solution with you

We sit down with you to understand your business, technical, legal and compliance requirements, and support you in blueprinting a potential solution.

  3. Step 3: We help you close the gaps

We support you in identifying the gaps, then in building the solution in house or with partners from across the Ethereum ecosystem.

  4. Step 4: We bring the right teams to the table

We bring in the teams that strengthen the product, whether DeFi providers, layer 2s or solution providers, and support your marketing and go to market.

What is Ethereum Institutional?

Ethereum Institutional is an independent non-profit dedicated to accelerating the institutional adoption of Ethereum, its L2s, applications and overall ecosystem.

Founded in 2026 with anchor funding from BitMine, SharpLink, Joseph Lubin and Mihai Alisie, our role is to translate institutional requirements into credible onchain deployments, while ensuring institutions can navigate Ethereum with clarity and confidence.

Why does Ethereum need a dedicated institutional engagement function?

Institutions need to engage with individuals, not only protocols. An institution evaluating its digital asset strategy does not simply read a yellow paper, run a benchmark, and decide. It runs a lengthy, multi-stakeholder process spanning several internal teams, its regulatory body, and ultimately its executive committee or board. That process needs a counterparty: someone they can call, brief their leadership with, route their requirements to, and trust to come back with honest answers. Ethereum’s credible neutrality is one of its most valuable structural properties, but neutrality without representation is oftentimes received as silence. Institutions need to have access to an ongoing relationship with someone who can credibly speak for the ecosystem.

Some other ecosystems have built this function at scale. They maintain dedicated, well-resourced commercial organizations focused on institutional engagement: relationship coverage by region and vertical, deal support, integration assistance, co-marketing, conference presence, and proactive incentive structures. They run roadshows and educational sessions, sponsor working groups, convene private dinners, fund pilots, and embed engineers inside customer teams. The Ethereum Institutional team began building this function at the Ethereum Foundation and are now scaling that to meet the increasing demand from institutions.

Decision complexity is increasing. Institutions today must navigate layer 1s, layer 2s, app-chains, permissioned chains, custody providers, infrastructure providers, oracle networks, identity layers, compliance stacks, privacy solutions, and a fast-evolving regulatory perimeter. Without a credibly neutral guide, the default outcome is fragmentation. Fragmentation hurts institutions through more counterparty risk, less liquidity, and higher integration costs. It hurts the industry through slower standards and a weaker compliance posture. And it hurts Ethereum specifically, because Ethereum disproportionately benefits from convergence on shared, open infrastructure.

Ethereum Institutional ensures Ethereum is in every serious institutional conversation about onchain infrastructure, as the credible, dedicated, ecosystem-aligned counterpart that institutions can engage with directly.

How is Ethereum Institutional different from the Ethereum Foundation?

The Ethereum Foundation (EF) is focused on core protocol stewardship, long-term network integrity, and research and development. While it was incubated at the EF, Ethereum Institutional is a separate, independent non-profit dedicated to broad institutional engagement and adoption: the relationship layer between the Ethereum ecosystem and the world’s financial institutions.

The EF allocates resources to support the broader ecosystem and protect the protocol’s fundamental properties. In early 2026, the EF made the decision to refocus its time and resources on protocol R&D and the adoption of CROPS (censorship resistance, open source, privacy and security) products built on top of Ethereum that maximize end-user self-sovereignty. Ethereum Institutional was founded to ensure that institutions continue to have an independent, credible, neutral counterpart as they enter the Ethereum ecosystem.

How is Ethereum Institutional different from Ethlabs?

Ethereum Institutional is the front door to institutions. It leads engagement, education, and coordination, ensuring Ethereum is consistently represented in high-stakes institutional decision-making. It builds trusted relationships with banks, asset managers, and public institutions, translates Ethereum’s value proposition into institutional terms, and surfaces real-world requirements. Its role is to generate institutional demand, shape perception, and align the ecosystem around these needs.

Ethlabs is the execution and technical translation layer. It unblocks adoption by turning Ethereum’s capabilities into deployable solutions across the stack, from core protocol to middleware and application design. While it incorporates institutional requirements surfaced by Ethereum Institutional, its scope is broader: supporting core developers, infrastructure providers, and onchain builders to strengthen Ethereum as a platform. Its role is to translate demand into product, advance the technical roadmap, and ensure Ethereum can scale across all user segments.

How is Ethereum Institutional different from other enterprise-focused Ethereum organizations?

Institutions require specialized support at each adoption stage. Multiple organizations currently support Ethereum adoption through marketing and product development for institutions, R&D for institutional use cases, policy groups, and membership-driven institutional trade organizations.

Ethereum Institutional is a neutral front door for institutional engagement and adoption, starting at the evaluation phase. It complements existing structures by supporting onboarding through requirements gathering, market intelligence, and by facilitating connections to other enterprise-focused Ethereum service providers, research organizations, trade groups, and policymakers.

Ethereum Institutional has strong working relationships with many of these existing organizations, including Ethlabs, Etherealize and the Enterprise Ethereum Alliance, from the founding teams’ previous experience at the Ethereum Foundation. Ethereum Institutional collaborates closely with these groups to establish Ethereum as the foundational settlement layer for the global economy.

Why was a non-profit structure chosen?

The decision to structure as a non-profit was made to ensure we remain as neutral as possible and to act in the best interests of the wider ecosystem. A non-profit structure removes the commercial incentive to favor any single product, vendor, or platform, which is essential to being a credible, ecosystem-aligned counterparty for institutions.
