AWB access
editHi @Primefac: could you please revoke my AWB access? Regards, Aafi (talk) 17:26, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
- Technically speaking, you haven't had AWB access since March when you got renamed, but I have removed your old name from the check page. Primefac (talk) 17:29, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you. Well honestly, I didn't check the JSON page to see if my username had been updated there, and only remembered that I had this access once granted, which has hardly been in-use for a considerable time. Thank you for your quick response. Regards, Aafi (talk) 17:38, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
Dutch Guyana
editHello! Is it possible for you to change the Surinamese Olympic participations in 1960, 1968 and 1972. Surinam was called Dutch Guyana at the time they were not called Suriname before 1975. Vietnam participated as South Vietnam from 1952 to 1972. 193.161.216.9 (talk) 14:31, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
- Based on Surinam (Dutch colony) it sounds like it was only unofficially known as Dutch Guiana. Similarly, our existing articles indicate that Vietnam was used during the early years. Primefac (talk) 16:40, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
- The original Charter for the Kingdom of the Netherlands (1954) named Surinam as a constituent country of the Kingdom. Also Dutch colonisation of the Guianas#Dutch Guiana or Suriname contests the request. The Banner talk 17:29, 8 November 2024 (UTC)

- 1993 Nigerian presidential election has the answer, I suspect. Primefac (talk) 11:18, 10 November 2024 (UTC)

Userfication of some COVID-19 templates
editHello, in my reply in the recent COVID-19 templates deletion discussion I requested to userfy all medical cases charts that were to be deleted. Given your final implementation of the deletion, those would be:
- Template:COVID-19 pandemic data/Donetsk People's Republic medical cases chart (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)
- Template:COVID-19 pandemic data/Luhansk People's Republic medical cases chart (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)
- Template:COVID-19 pandemic data/Namibia medical cases chart (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)
- Template:COVID-19 pandemic data/Tibet medical cases chart (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)
- Template:COVID-19 pandemic data/United States/American Samoa medical cases chart (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)
- Template:COVID-19 pandemic data/United States/California/Alameda County medical cases chart (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

- Template:COVID-19 pandemic data/United States/California/Napa County medical cases chart (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)
- Template:COVID-19 pandemic data/United States/California/San Francisco County medical cases chart (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

- Template:COVID-19 pandemic data/United States/California/Sonoma County medical cases chart (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)
This isn't my first such request and may not be the last. Therefore, if for some reason I'm not made aware of similar deletions, I would appreciate a heads-up. ;) Alexis Coutinho (talk) 17:49, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- Sure, I'll get to it in a bit. Primefac (talk) 17:55, 11 November 2024 (UTC)

UTM tags
editPrimebot is still removing UTM tags in accordance with Task 17, and there are still thousands of occurrences.
Would it be feasible to make an edit filter to let people know to delete UTM tags? DS (talk) 03:57, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
- Might be feasible; WP:EFR would be the place to bring it up, but checking URLs for
utm=
and similar should be fairly straight-forward. Primefac (talk) 12:44, 12 November 2024 (UTC) - Filter 1030 (hist · log) is currently tagging new urls with tracking parameters. Might be time to create MediaWiki:Abusefilter-warning-tracking and set the filter to warn and tag, but as Primefac said EFR would be the place to discuss that. Unexpected PrimeBOT failure mode
editThe treatment of the periods here: [2]. JBL (talk) 00:07, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
- That's a rather interesting one! To me that falls into the category of "exception to the rule", with the rule being "punctuation before references". Other than disabling genfixes I'm not sure there's anything that can be done about it, as they're part of that suite on AWB. Primefac (talk) 13:13, 13 November 2024 (UTC)

editHello, Primefac,
I was very surprised to see that you had blocked Saqib and since this is an ArbCom block, there is no information provided on the editor's user talk page on what prompted this block and removal of talk page access. As far as I can see they weren't involved in an arbitration case or brought up at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Enforcement. Are you free to share any information on what prompted this block? Saqib was very active in AFDLand and I relied on their intelligence and deletion nominations. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 00:52, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
- Unfortunately I am not free to discuss the matter or provide information on what prompted this block. Primefac (talk) 11:09, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
- That's the answer I expected. But it was such a shock to see that I felt I had to ask in case there was any explanation you could offer. But ARBCOM blocks are like that, no further information supplied. Thanks for the polite response. Liz Read! Talk! 05:30, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- I was about to email Primefac regarding this. They were really helpful in AfD. Well....c'est la vie.— Benison (Beni · talk) 08:05, 15 November 2024 (UTC)

Saros
editHi there. I'm curious about the introduction of a saros parameter in this edit — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 21:50, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
- Copy/paste fail, I was using the code from a different template and clearly managed to miss it in the transfer. Primefac (talk) 12:59, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- Okay but there is still another parameter called saros — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 14:29, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- Fixed. Primefac (talk) 15:07, 17 November 2024 (UTC)

Hello Primefac. I noticed that you reverted an edit that unsuppressed a link to the CC-BY-SA-licensed File:Coin Icon.svg. I am wondering if you had read my comment on the respective talk page prior to doing so and, if not, whether you have a reply to that.

Discussion at WP:THQ § Help:How to move a page and template protection
editYou are invited to join the discussion at WP:THQ § Help:How to move a page and template protection. -- Marchjuly (talk) 20:38, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Primefac. Could you take a look a this? I misunderstood the OP's question and mistakenly thought they were asking about how to edit a protected template when they seem to be asking how to edit a protected page in the "Help" namespace. No idea as to whether the change they want to make is needed, but the licensing of the file they uploaded to Commons might need to be tweaked to be c:Template:Wikipedia screenshot. -- Marchjuly (talk) 20:43, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message
editHello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}}

editThank you for standing for arbitrator. I am far away from it all (travel, mourning), not in the mood, so just an informal question you can answer or ignore:
- Liviu Holender chose lieder by five composers whose music was banned by the Nazis—Schreker, Zemlinsky, Mahler, Korngold and Schönberg—for a recital at the Oper Frankfurt.
What does this 2024 DYK tell you about infoboxes for classical composers in 2024? -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:22, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- I assume you mean the article and not the DYK hook itself (which has nothing to do with infoboxes). I suppose the article doesn't really tell me anything about infoboxes for classical composers in 2024, which... I guess is a good thing? I don't see any evidence of warring or dispute over the infobox. Primefac (talk) 16:43, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
