Baiyun to host spectacular Mid-Autumn fire dragon dance

As the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, Baiyun district is gearing up for vibrant celebrations. The highlight of these festivities is the much-anticipated fire dragon dance, set to take place on the evening of Sept 17 across various towns and neighborhoods, including Junhe neighborhood, Jianggao town, and Baiyun Lake neighborhood.

The Junhe neighborhood Fire Dragon Folk Culture Festival, from Sept 1 to 22, will feature a grand opening ceremony on Sept 12 at Pinghe Daya Square. The festival aims to blend traditional and creative elements, showcasing the unique charm of Junhe's intangible cultural heritage.

From Sept 12 to 22, Pinghe Daya Square will host exciting events, including nightly fireworks displays, the flying fire phoenix show, and the traditional fire pot, fire stick, and flaming knife performances. The main event, the fire dragon dance, will light up the night of Sept 17.

In Jianggao town, the ninth Fire Dragon Festival will take place on Sept 17, featuring around 20 fire dragons. The festival will include traditional rituals such as dragon eye-dotting, water-fetching, and fire dragon parades.

Baiyun Lake neighborhood will also join the celebrations with over 10 fire dragons from five different areas gathering at the Xiamao Beidi Temple and the Dangqun Cultural Square. The event will be live-streamed, allowing more audiences to experience the vibrant festivities.
