On my 22nd birthday, two years ago, I had a pretty pleasant day. I don't really remember what about it was good, I probably had an enjoyable task at work and a good time with collegues; and in my good mood, I also went down to the book shop right outside my workplace and picked up War and Peace. The cashier made a little comment as he scanned the book, apparently impressed or surprised.
Why'd I pick it up? Well, why would anyone want to read the book? Because it's a classic and everyone says it's good. Was it? Yes! But not in the sort of way I expected it to be.
I don't know much about dithering. But when I visit other people's sites and they dither their images in cool ways I always wonder how they do it. So in case anyone is wondering, here's my current method for dithering these pink images.

This was posted at about 01:30am so it's probably full or errors but whatever I never back out of writing a post all in one go.
If I've spoken to you in the past week, I probably mentioned playing around with Plan 9. After getting an old PC on ebay for 30€ (~40€ with shipping) I thought "if I was ever going to install this, now is the time". Shout out to Matt for the hint of what to look for to get real cheap used PCs on ebay; which we talked about a bit on an IndieWeb pop-up about BSD.
Here's an attempt to answer questions I get about why I don't use AI, and any more I could think of that may also arise. I'll try to get into it as honestly as possible, without just falling back on "it sucks and is bad" and leaving it at that.

Nope. No output at all. Just input. With the keyboard.
Why
Short answer: why not?
Long answer: James floated this idea at IWC/BTconf of a PC that's just a keyboard for taking notes; and I said that's totally doable and probably not hard at all to do, since computers that are inside a keyboard already exist. So here's me putting my money where my mouth is.

A World without the Pain of Death
i woke from dream, cried, short of breath: what nightmare in my own desire - a world without the pain of death where no man fears he will expire. The earth was dry as blocks of sand, a lifeless heap we couldn't know and not one leaf would grace this land without the kiss of nature's flow; Where death did not exist in theory life as we know it was not found and every body that stood near me seemed to be yearning for the ground; Where none had ever died before no worm could feast on sustenance, no seeds could spring out of the floor, no thing could start, where no thing ends. The earth was such a dreary place - no laughter came from people's lips walking forever through the maze and dreaming of apocalypse. Despite it all they cherished living and I suppose we'd never see the ailments that can be forgiven; no matter what, man wants to be. They couldn't know for what they're yearning and hungry in the inner eye are things of which they're never learning: What privilege it is to die.
