Apple has opened a new 600-capacity live music venue at London's Battersea Power Station.
Apple Music Hall is designed to host intimate artist performances while offering professional-grade recording and broadcast facilities. Its 38-foot-wide stage can accommodate traditional front-facing shows and in-the-round setups, while a 48-speaker spatial sound system surrounds the audience.
Behind the stage, two recording and mixing studios allow performances to be captured as multitrack recordings and mixed in Spatial Audio, either live or post-show. The venue also features infrastructure for 16 or more cameras, alongside a dedicated broadcast control room supporting both traditional broadcast cameras and iPhone video capture.
Artists can leave a single performance with a Spatial Audio recording, broadcast-ready mix and multicamera video. Shows will also be livestreamed globally.
Designed with architectural references to Battersea Power Station, the space includes heritage brickwork, fluted arches and bronze balconies overlooking the building's concourse and the River Thames.
Apple has also opened new radio studios at the site, where its London-based Apple Music Radio hosts and shows will now broadcast.
