Democratizing content creation with a unified cloud and AI platform
The global podcast market is booming. Yet despite this growth, it can still be challenging for inexperienced producers to make content with traditional production and editing tools. That’s the challenge Dimitris Nikolaou aimed to solve when he co-founded Wondercraft. With its AI agent for content creation, the company enables anyone to create video and audio content through natural conversation, without needing to master complicated editing software.
Wondercraft initially built its infrastructure on a third-party cloud provider, but with limited AI models to choose from, it needed to source its AI models elsewhere. Impressed with the quality of the Gemini family of models, Wondercraft made them an integral part of its AI offering. However, using separate providers for its cloud services and its AI models created unnecessary complexity.

Wondercraft migrated to Google Cloud in 2025 and found that having its cloud infrastructure and AI models in one place not only made it easier for the company to move quickly in response to customer demands, but also resulted in faster model inference. This means faster response times for its users.
Joining the Google for Startups Cloud Program, Wondercraft gained significant exposure at Google Cloud events, such as Google Cloud Next 2025, while also receiving credits to spend on its AI models. The company also benefited from a strong relationship with the Google Cloud team, which showed Wondercraft how the various Gemini models consume credits and how to best navigate the migration. "We have not seen anything like this from another cloud provider," says Nikolaou.
The close relationship with Google Cloud also helped Wondercraft gain early access to new AI models, enabling the team to become familiar with the models more quickly. “Having the previews of models two or three weeks before they go to public beta has been instrumental in helping us move faster and release new features more quickly,” Nikolaou explains.
Creating lifelike audio content and increasing subscriptions by 20% with Gemini
Wondercraft allows users to choose between a range of AI models to make their content, and the team rigorously tests them to ensure they consistently offer users the best experience. As a result of this testing, Wondercraft has made Gemini models available across all four modalities on the Wondercraft platform: Gemini 2.5 Pro for text generation, Gemini 2.5 Flash for high-quality audio, Veo 3 for video generation, and Gemini 2.5 Flash Image [aka Nano-Banana] for images.

Working with Gemini models has enabled Wondercraft to rapidly evolve its offering. Initially the platform focused on audio content generation, enabling users to stitch together individual AI generated text-to-speech clips to create a dialogue. When Wondercraft gained access to the conversational Gemini model that powers NotebookLM, the company developed and released its new “convo mode,” which allows users to generate a full conversation that flows naturally, without needing to create separate clips for each speaker. Wondercraft even allows users to clone their own voice and use it in convo mode to generate realistic, professional-sounding audio that’s unique to them.
"With Gemini Flash, it's the first time our users have been able to create such realistic dialogue," says Nikolaou. "We’ve seen subscriptions per month increase by 20% as a result, while customer churn has decreased by 20% as well, helping to drive Wondercraft’s growth.”

Wondercraft has now evolved to become a multi-modal platform, offering video and image content generation, thanks to the latest range of powerful AI models from Gemini and Google Cloud. With Veo 3, Wondercraft’s users can instantly create cinematic video, using natural language prompts to create new shots, effects, and brand animations. With Gemini 2.5 Flash Image, users can generate images and perform advanced edits by simply describing what they want to change, rather than spending hours performing manual edits.
“Over the past six months, Veo 3 and Gemini 2.5 Flash Image have allowed us to evolve to become a video platform as well as an audio platform, increasing our addressable market by as much as 1,000x,” says Nikolaou. “Veo 3 and Gemini 2.5 Flash Image are not just the best models, they are also by far the cheapest, with Veo 3 80% cheaper and Gemini 2.5 Flash Image 95% cheaper than the nearest third-party equivalents.”
As Wondercraft continues to evolve, Nikolaou is confident that Gemini will continue to provide the cutting-edge AI models it needs to provide its customers with the most powerful AI content generation capabilities.
