An AI helper inside your LangX chats. It never sends a word for you.
LangX Copilot checks a sentence before you send it, helps you say something in the language you are learning, explains a message or a correction, and suggests replies. You ask with a tap.1 The answer comes back in blue, for you to use, change or ignore.

Illustration. You wrote: Ayer yo voy al cine. Lucía corrected it to: Ayer fui al cine. In English: I went to the cinema yesterday.
Copilot · BetaExplained
“Ayer” (yesterday) puts this in the past, so “voy” (I go) becomes “fui” (I went). “Yo” can go, because “fui” already says who.
Check my sentence
Before you send a message, ask whether it is right. Copilot checks it in the language you wrote it in and makes the smallest correction that fixes it.
Illustration, not real output
Your draft: Me gusta mucho los perros. Copilot’s check: Me gustan mucho los perros.
Copilot · Beta
With a plural like “los perros”, the verb is “gustan”, not “gusta”.
- Where it is
- Type your message, tap the blue Copilot button beside Send, and choose “Check my sentence”.
- A chat-length sentence, not a long text.
- What comes back
- A blue card above the message box, never in the chat: your sentence with the changed words in blue, and one short reason in your app language. It keeps your meaning, tone and register, and does not rewrite for style or translate. If nothing needs to change, it says “Looks good.”
- Blue, not green. In LangX, green is kept for a correction from a person.
- Then
- “Use this” puts the corrected sentence in your message. “Keep mine” closes the card. Neither one sends.
- The two buttons are the same size on purpose: taking the machine’s word must not be easier than keeping your own.2
Say it in Spanish
Write what you want to say in your own language, and get up to three ways to say it in the language you are learning, at your level.
On screen, the row names the language you are learning. Here, that is Spanish.

You wrote, in English
Can we talk tomorrow instead?
Copilot · Beta Ways to say it
- Where it is
- Type it in the message box, tap the Copilot button and choose “Say it in Spanish”. The row picks the first language you are learning that your partner speaks natively, or else the first one you are learning.
- A chat line, not a paragraph. If you are not learning a language, there is no row.3
- What comes back
- A card headed “Ways to say it”: up to three short sentences, each with a few words in your app language on how it differs, such as casual, polite or shorter. It keeps your meaning and adds nothing you didn’t say.
- Say it sends your line and your language settings, never the chat, and nothing about your partner.
- Then
- Tap an option and it goes into your message, to change or to send. Nothing is sent.
- Copilot explains in your app language; the options come in the language you are learning.4
Explain
Ask what a message means, or what a correction changed and why. The answer is at most three short sentences, in your app language.
Illustration, not real output
Lucía wrote: ¡Qué guay! Nos vemos el finde.
Copilot · BetaExplained
“Guay” is casual Spanish from Spain for cool. “Finde” is short for “fin de semana”, the weekend. So: “How cool! See you at the weekend.”
- Where it is
- Press and hold your partner’s message, or a correction from either of you, and choose “Explain”. With the message box empty, an Explain chip beside Correct, Translate and Echo does the same for their latest message.
- Not for your own messages, voice notes, photos, view-once messages or messages deleted for everyone.
- What comes back
- A sheet titled “Explained”, over the chat, never in it. For a message: what it means, and any idiom, slang, abbreviation or grammar a learner might miss. For a correction: what it changed and why.
- It explains a person’s correction as given. It never offers a different one, and never judges whether the corrector was right.
- Then
- Close it with “Close”, or tap outside the sheet.
- It doesn’t suggest a reply, and doesn’t judge the writer.
Reply ideas
When your partner’s newest message is still waiting for an answer, ask for a few ideas. Pick one, change it and send it yourself, or write your own.

Lucía wrote, and it is your turn
¿Y tú qué haces este finde?
Copilot · Beta Reply ideas
- Where it is
- A small blue “Reply ideas” chip above the empty message box. It shows only when their newest message is text and still unanswered, and nothing is asked until you tap it.
- Never offered unprompted, and never an auto-reply.
- What comes back
- A card headed “Reply ideas” with up to three short replies, one or two sentences each, in the language of the chat and at your level. They never speak for your partner.
- To write them, Copilot reads the last few messages in the chat, from both of you.5
- Then
- Tap an idea and it goes into your message. Change it, or don’t. Then send it yourself.
- Ideas for a message are kept while the app is open, so opening them again costs nothing.
How to use it
Four steps, all inside the app. The third one you do the first time, and again if you turn Copilot off or the sheet changes.
-
Open a chat
Copilot works inside a conversation you already have in the LangX app. It is not on the screen that starts a new chat.
Not in chats with accounts that take no messages, such as @langx.6
-
Tap the help you want
Type a draft and tap the blue Copilot button beside Send for Check my sentence or Say it. Press and hold a message for Explain. With the message box empty, tap Reply ideas or the Explain chip.
Sketch of the message box with the Copilot menu open above it.
One tap asks one question. Nothing is asked in the background.
-
Agree, the first time
The first time, a sheet called “Before you use Copilot” says what is sent and to whom. “Turn on Copilot” agrees and runs the help you tapped. “Not now” records nothing, so it asks again next time. It also asks again after you turn Copilot off, and if what is sent, or who receives it, changes.
Nothing is sent before you agree. The sheet is in §7.1, word for word.
-
Read it, then decide
The answer is blue and labelled “Copilot · Beta”. Use it, change it or close it. Only Send sends, and only you press it.
AI can be wrong. If an answer is, tap Report.7
Free and Pro
Copilot is a beta on both plans. Any signed-in account with a verified email can use it, once you have agreed to the consent sheet. The plan changes how many answers you get in a day.
| Free | Pro | |
|---|---|---|
| Copilot | Beta | Beta |
| Answers | A daily allowance | A larger daily allowance |
A limit on both plans, and the app shows how many answers are left.8
- One allowance
- Check my sentence, Say it, Explain and Reply ideas all draw on the same daily allowance.
- What counts
- You only use an answer when Copilot actually writes one. An answer reused because the same question was asked recently costs nothing. If Copilot declines, fails or runs out of time, the answer is given back. A request that stops before Copilot is asked, because it is switched off or you haven’t agreed yet, costs nothing.
- Reply ideas you open again for the same message, while the app is open, cost nothing either.
- How many are left
- Under every answer a grey line says “n left today”. Once none are left, it says “More at time”: the time the next answer comes back.
- At the limit
- Copilot says “You’ve used today’s Copilot answers. More at time.” It never opens the paywall, and never asks you to upgrade.
- Now and then it may be busy instead: “Copilot is busy. Try again later.”
Privacy
Nothing is sent until you agree, and after that only when you tap a Copilot button. This is what goes where, in the app’s own words and the privacy policy’s.

Copilot · Beta
Before you use Copilot
Copilot is an AI helper. It can check a sentence before you send it, help you say something in the language you are learning, explain a message or a correction, and suggest replies.
- When you ask, the text you asked about goes to Anthropic, the company that runs the AI model, with your languages and levels. To explain a message, that is the one message you picked, which the other person wrote. For reply ideas, it includes the last few messages in the chat.
- Your name, email, photos and voice notes are never sent.
- AI can be wrong. Its answers are marked Copilot, and nothing reaches the other person unless you send it yourself.
It shows before any text is sent, and on every tap until you agree. “Not now” records nothing.
If we change what is sent or who receives it, everyone is asked again.
What each help sends
| Check my sentence | The sentence you are about to send, your languages and levels, and the language the app is set to. |
|---|---|
| Say it | What you wrote in your own language, the language you want it in, your level in that language, and the language the app is set to. Nothing from the chat, and nothing about your partner. |
| ExplainYour partner’s words | The one message you picked, plus your level and the language the app is set to. That is either a message the other person sent you, or a correction: the original sentence, the corrected one and the corrector’s note. Each is cut to 500 characters, and the note to 200. |
| Reply ideasYour partner’s words | Up to the last six text messages and corrections in that chat, from both of you, each cut to 200 characters and marked only as yours or theirs, plus your languages and levels. |
Never sent: your name, username, email address, user id and age, unless they appear in the text itself. Nor are photos, videos, voice messages, view-once messages, or messages that were deleted or that you hid. The request carries no identifier of yours.
One exception: a correction carries its own copy of the sentence it corrected, so explaining a correction sends that sentence even if its original message was deleted since.
Copilot won’t add contact details or links, and won’t help move a chat off LangX. If it ever does, report it.
Who sees it
- Your partner
- None of it. Nothing reaches them unless you send it yourself.
- Anthropic
- The text in the table above, to write the answer for us. Section 2.6 of the privacy policy says what its terms allow it to do with that.
- The LangX team
- Answers you report, with what you chose to send along. People at LangX with access to its systems can also read what LangX keeps (7.4), such as the stored answers, which are linked to no account and deleted after 7 days, and error reports, which carry your user id.
So Copilot is not “only you”: your partner sees nothing, but Anthropic reads what you asked about, and the LangX team can read what you report and what LangX keeps.9
What LangX keeps
- Answers
- 7 days, so that the same question asked again is not paid for twice. Each is stored under a one-way hash of the question and linked to no account. An answer can repeat the words it was about: a checked sentence comes back corrected. After 7 days it is deleted automatically.
- Your allowance
- The time of each new answer, so that the app can count what is left. Older times are deleted. If you reach the limit, that is noted for a few days. Nothing about what you asked.
- Server logs
- Which help was asked, how it ended and how long it took. Never the text. As with any request, they also see your IP address.
- Errors
- When Copilot fails to answer, the error goes to Sentry, our error tracker, with your user id.
- Your consent
- When you agreed, and which version of the sheet you agreed to.
- Reports
- Kept with your user id, included in Export my data (Settings → Account), and deleted when your account is deleted.
Turning it off
Go to Settings → Privacy → Copilot. Switch it off and confirm with “Turn off”. That withdraws your consent: “Nothing more of yours goes to the AI provider. Copilot asks again the next time you use it.”
Privacy
Can’t see the row? Write to [email protected] to have your consent removed.10
Reporting an answer
Every answer has Report in its corner. A report sends the answer and which help wrote it to the LangX team: “Nothing is sent to the other person.” For Check my sentence and Say it, “Also send what you wrote” adds your draft; it is off unless you switch it on. Nothing else from your chat is sent.
A report goes to us only: not to Anthropic, and not to any public tracker.
The full detail is in section 2.6 of the LangX privacy policy (opens in a new tab).
What’s live, and what isn’t
Everything that has been called Copilot, with its real status.
-
Copilot in LangX chats , status: Beta
Check my sentence, Say it, Explain and Reply ideas, in the LangX app now, on Free and Pro, for every account with a verified email. Every answer is labelled “Copilot · Beta”. It is a beta, and we may switch it off for everyone at any time.
-
The @copilot account , status: Coming soon
A profile in the app that does not take messages yet. For now, Copilot works inside your chats with people.11
-
Where Copilot started , status: Historical
Copilot started as a Discord bot and as a switch in the first LangX app; the bot is paused.
Next to Copilot in a chat, and not Copilot: Correct, where a person rewrites your sentence in green; Translate, a machine translation with its own allowance; Echo, review cards made from real messages; and the topic starters above a quiet chat, which come from a fixed list.
Questions
Set as footnotes, because that is where the small print belongs. None of it is hidden.
-
Is Copilot a person, a tutor or a chatbot?
None of those. Copilot is an AI writing aid inside a chat with a real person. It does not talk with you: you tap one of its four helps, and it answers that one question. AI can be wrong, so treat every answer as a suggestion. ↑
-
Does Copilot ever send a message for me?
No. Nothing reaches the other person unless you send it yourself. “Use this”, a way to say it and a reply idea only fill your message box. ↑
-
How long can my message be?
Check my sentence takes a chat-length sentence, and Say it a chat line, not a paragraph. When a draft is too long for a help, that help is left out of the Copilot menu. ↑
-
Which languages does it work in?
Copilot explains in your app language: English, Turkish, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, French, German or Brazilian Portuguese. Check my sentence checks the language you wrote in, Say it writes in the language you are learning, and reply ideas come in the language of the chat. Its answers can be wrong in any language. ↑
-
What is sent to the AI, and to whom?
Nothing until you agree, and then only when you tap a Copilot button. The text you asked about goes to Anthropic, the company that runs the AI model, with your languages and levels. For Explain that can be a message your partner wrote, and for reply ideas the last few messages in the chat. Your name, email, photos and voice notes are never sent. Section 2.6 of the LangX privacy policy (opens in a new tab) has the details. ↑
-
Why don’t I see Copilot?
It appears inside a conversation you already have, not on the screen that starts a new one, and not in a chat with an account that takes no messages, such as @langx. The Copilot button shows once you have typed something. Guest accounts and accounts with an unverified email can’t use it. It is a beta, and we may switch it off for everyone at any time. ↑
-
What if an answer is wrong?
Keep your own words, and tap Report in the corner of the answer. The LangX team sees the answer and which help wrote it. For Check my sentence and Say it, you can choose to send what you wrote too. ↑
-
Do I need Pro?
No. Any signed-in account with a verified email can use Copilot, on Free and on Pro. Both plans have a daily allowance of answers, and Pro’s is larger. The app shows how many are left. On both plans, Copilot is a beta. ↑
-
Can my partner see that I used Copilot?
No. Your partner sees none of your Copilot answers. What you send is your own message, whether or not Copilot helped with it. ↑
-
How do I turn Copilot off?
Settings → Privacy → Copilot. Turning it off withdraws your consent: nothing more of yours goes to the AI provider, and Copilot asks again the next time you use it. If you can’t see that row, write to [email protected]. ↑
-
Can I chat with @copilot?
Not yet. The @copilot account is coming soon. For now it takes no messages, and Copilot works inside your chats with people. ↑
