At a time where #lender capacity is constrained by market uncertainty and regulatory needs such as #KYC and creditworthiness checks, many smaller firms across the #commodity value-chain find themselves at the short end of credit #liquidity limitations, and while a growing pool of #fintech and non-bank providers look towards product variety and flexibility, many still face the same structural hurdles that inhibit commercial lenders. One solution however is #Bitcoin and in particular the Bitcredit network, which uses digital bills of exchange to turn self-liquidating commodity trade credit into #liquidity without conventional sourcing. In this fireside chat, Hubertus Hofkirchner (Bitcredit Protocol) and Michiel Mannaerts (PwC) examined the Bitcredit Protocol, and where the acceleration of its demonstration phase has led to client onboarding and #SME liquidity creation. 👉 Continue exploring the insights shared at #GTRCommodities by following the hashtag or joining the LinkedIn showcase page: https://lnkd.in/d6n5PVEA #GTRCommodities #Commodities #CommodityTrade #CommodityFinance

With the #tradefinance gap estimated at around US$2.5tn globally many #SMEtraders feel squeezed at a time where Basel III and high compliance costs are constraining traditional lenders. As #FI risk parameters remain tight and corporate funding stresses grow the deep pockets of institutional and private investor #capital are increasingly earmarked for bank and #liquidity gaps, with trade finance emerging as an attractive asset class for institutional money. There remains multiple hurdles however from communicating the basics of trade finance structures to proving its credentials as a low-risk opportunity. Wrapping up GTR Commodities 2026, our esteemed panellists assessed the evolving parameters for trade as an asset class and where the sector can coordinate to reduce entry barriers for institutional capital. A huge thank you to our fantastic speakers: · Anne-Marie Woolley (Mercore Capital) · Joon Kim (BNY) · Orhan Gunes (TradeQraft AG) · Nicolas Clavel (Scipion Capital Ltd.) · John Goodridge (Silver Birch Finance) 👉 View all photos and explore insights from each of the previous panels at #GTRCommodities by following the hashtag or joining the LinkedIn showcase page: https://lnkd.in/d6n5PVEA #GTRCommodities #Commodities #CommodityTrade #CommodityFinance

#AI utility is likely to remain a significant priority across commodity market operations, with both banks and traders increasingly deploying solutions for administrative processes, trade documentation, contract drafting and credit and risk analysis. With the acceleration of more nascent tools such as AI agents the innovation of market operations is beginning to look beyond simple workflow efficiency and towards intelligence-led tools, from multi-modal market analysis to autonomous trade execution. Today, Bernhard Bolliger (PwC), Pjotr Gainullin (Singapore Mining Club) and (Palm Street Partners) and Katherine Avery (Chimayo Consulting) discussed the growing role of AI technologies for excelling commodity trade operations and where, looking ahead, #banks and #traders see the development of value and capability. 🗣️ Join the conversation online by following #GTRCommodities and connect with the LinkedIn showcase page: https://lnkd.in/d6n5PVEA #GTRCommodities #Commodities #CommodityTrade #CommodityFinance

As commodity trade stakeholders continue to navigate a growing web of flare points and bottlenecks the need for trade compliance remains critical for #traders and the maritime industry. As challenges evolve from simply flagging sanctioned oil trade to the pervasiveness of #AI and authenticating and verifying documents, advanced end-to-end solutions are critical for keeping abreast with emerging trade risks. Our industry-leading panel examined how firms can future-proof their trade compliance and de-risking capabilities as well manage the increasing overlap of areas such as sanctions, export controls and tariff-related restrictions. A special thank you to our brilliant speakers: · Maryana Yarmolenko Stober (WISTA SWITZERLAND) · Charles Ike (Pole Star Global) · Ana Subasic (Kpler · Jonas Rey (Athena Intelligence) ➡️ Don’t miss the discussions taking place later today at #GTRCommodities – Follow the event hashtag or join the LinkedIn showcase page: https://lnkd.in/d6n5PVEA #GTRCommodities #Commodities #CommodityTrade #CommodityFinance

As the technology for paperless #trade continues to march forward, efforts to expand the adoption and utility of #electronictradedocuments is gathering pace across the #commoditymarket, with a flurry of initiatives from pilot projects to completed live transactions helping imprint use-cases throughout the industry. Penetration continues to remain low however, and while potential benefits such as freight forwarding efficiency and faster working capital cycles offer timely reprieves for commodity stakeholders, interoperability and counterparty reluctance remain challenges that are difficult to overcome. Thank you to Greg Pradervand (Havona Technology) and Ewa Anselm-Jedlinska (PwC) who assessed the priorities for overcoming adoption frictions for paperless trade and where increased coordination among key stakeholder can help address core bottlenecks. 🚨 Stay connected to the discussions taking place at #GTRCommodities by following the hashtag or joining the LinkedIn showcase page: https://lnkd.in/d6n5PVEA #GTRCommodities #Commodities #CommodityTrade #CommodityFinance

As #supplychain disrupters grow and expand across the global commodity market the network’s web of #traders, freight carriers and other key nodes must increasingly employ versatility to keep ahead of market bottlenecks. From proactive planning that can sidestep #sanctions risk, conflict flare points and sourcing disruption to adapting working capital for longer transit routes and logistical logjams, supply chain leaders must remain on their toes as trade disruption becomes more routine across #commodities. Our distinguished panel examined the latest thinking on proactive strategic planning and how firms from across the commodity network are risk-proofing their supply chain operations. A huge thank you to our fantastic speakers: · Pierre Ligneul-de Villeneuve (IFC - International Finance Corporation) · Akim Kibalnik (BBVA Corporate & Investment Banking) · Martaxelle Erussard (MasOceans SA) · Andrew Glass (Avatar Commodities) · Stefan Reidy (Atexxa Group AG) 👉 Continue exploring the insights shared at #GTRCommodities by following the hashtag or joining the LinkedIn showcase page: https://lnkd.in/d6n5PVEA #GTRCommodities #Commodities #CommodityTrade #CommodityFinance

While large #commodity #traders can navigate the seas in pursuit of ever risky arbitrage, the market’s tranche of small to medium sized traders must exercise more restraint and caution, operating within a market where scale, liquidity access and long #workingcapital cycles can complicate SME trade. Trade fragmentation, shipping rerouting and managing overseas transactions all add additional challenges, however for an #SME their size and capacity for agility can also be an advantage, allowing for quick tilts into niche plays where larger traders are less specialised. This expert panel examined the parameters for smaller firms and how practitioners can best position themselves for success. A special thank you to our brilliant speakers: · Tedd George (Kleos Advisory Ltd (UK) · Fabien Berciaud (Ecobank Transnational Incorporated) · Ebenezer Amarh (GHIB- Ghana International Bank) · Sunil George (STS Global Trade LLC) · Preslav Raykov (Magic flame Flame Group) · Clare Rowley (Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF) 🗣️ Join the conversation online by following #GTRCommodities and connect with the LinkedIn showcase page: https://lnkd.in/d6n5PVEA #GTRCommodities #Commodities #CommodityTrade #CommodityFinance

Since the start of the year segments of the global #CPRI and underwriting market have been pushed to new limits, with premiums for marine and war risk coverage surging in response to unprecedented risk and disruption. Similarly for corporate risk management the assessment of real-time and future market risks has been critical for keeping #commodity #traders adaptable and nimble. Despite tenuous agreements to restart vessel shipments in the Strait of Hormuz the market remains permanently fragile, with a host of ancillary pressures from logistical backlogs to trade cycle issues keeping claim risk and trader vigilance high. John MacNamara (Carshalton Commodities), Richard Wulff (ICISA - International Credit Insurance & Surety Association) and Andrew Glass (Avatar Commodities) just assessed how CPRI practitioners are adjusting product and capacity arsenals, as well as the steps that commodity traders are taking to keep market risk analysis agile and adaptable. ➡️ Don’t miss the discussions taking place later today at #GTRCommodities – Follow the event hashtag or join the LinkedIn showcase page: https://lnkd.in/d6n5PVEA #GTRCommodities #Commodities #CommodityTrade #CommodityFinance

As momentum is projected to accelerate for industry segments such as the energy transition, electric vehicles, advanced #manufacturing and #AI data centres, so to is the demand for #criticalminerals, with governments stepping up efforts to secure strategic #commodities across a basket of mineral resources. From policy initiatives to build domestic extraction, processing and stockpiling capabilities to multilateral agreements such as the G7’s Critical Minerals Resilience and Production Alliance, efforts to address #supplychain vulnerabilities are heating up. On the ground level however many financing hurdles remain, from limited access to #finance for #capital intensive projects to lender hesitancy around #tariffs, #export controls and political risk. Today, esteemed industry practitioners discussed the project finance outlook and how market #liquidity and project capital solutions can be optimised to meet the growing appetite for strategic mineral resources.
