Next week in Zurich, seven CV VC portfolio companies will be on the ground at #CVSummit 2026. Here is who to look out for: 🔹 GenTwo: turns bankable and non-bankable assets into investable securities through its Zurich-built structuring platform 🔹 Scorechain: provides blockchain analytics and AML compliance for financial institutions, regulators, and crypto businesses worldwide 🔹 BLOCKSPORT: helps sports clubs, federations, and creators monetise fandom through digital engagement and tokenised experiences 🔹 Ponos Technology: builds hardware-accelerated zero-knowledge proof infrastructure for blockchain protocols and appchains 🔹 Vereign AG: gives individuals and organisations control over their own data through self-sovereign digital identity 🔹 Provably: enables AI systems, databases, and blockchains to exchange data that is verifiably correct, not just authenticated 🔹 Chronicle: the onchain verification layer behind BlackRock's tokenised BUIDL fund, Galaxy's $500 million warehouse lending facility, and Sky (formerly MakerDAO) Many of the themes on the CV Summit stage, from tokenisation and digital asset infrastructure to trustworthy AI, are already being put into practice by these teams. You will find them across the Kongresshaus across both days, and for anyone looking to see where these conversations are heading next, they are a good place to start. 📅 29-30 September | Kongresshaus Zurich Join the room: https://lnkd.in/dw7rgVRK

Ahead of CV Summit 2026, we asked CV VC Co-CIOs David Long and Lukas Etter which conversations they will be following most closely in Zurich next week. For both of them, it comes back to AI, and how quickly the technology is shifting from a feature added onto financial products to the foundation they are built on. David Long highlighted: "A year ago, most AI conversations in finance were about pilots. Now the question in every boardroom is how to run AI across the whole business, not just one corner of it. AI Adoption at Scale is the session I would tell anyone not to miss, because that is where you hear how institutions are actually making that shift." Lukas Etter outlined: "I am most interested in what happens when AI stops advising and starts acting. The panel "Agents That Transact: Agentic Payments" gets straight to that point. If agents are going to move money on behalf of people and businesses, the infrastructure underneath has to be ready, and many of the founders we meet are building exactly that." David and Lukas will also take the stage together for a panel titled "Investing in the AI-Native Future", where they will share how CV VC evaluates the founders building for this next phase and where they see the biggest opportunities. If you are joining us at the Kongresshaus Zurich on 29-30 September, come and find them after the panel: https://lnkd.in/dw7rgVRK #CVSummit

The world just voted to stop making Africa look small. 164 countries backed a UN resolution this week replacing the Mercator projection (which has been in use since 1569!!!) with the Equal Earth map, which shows Africa in its true size. On the Mercator, Greenland and Africa appear roughly equal, in reality, Africa is 14 times larger. “You could fit the United States, China, India, Japan, Mexico and much of Europe into Africa and still have land to spare,” says a petition on Change.org for the #CorrectTheMap campaign. An article from The Guardian details the discrepancies: https://lnkd.in/e6nkg7tD The same distortion exists in global capital markets. Africa holds 19% of the world's population, youngest population, fastes growing population, generates compelling investment returns. Yet the continent attracted just 6% of global FDI flows in 2024. The deal flow is there, but the capital is not. That too is a perception problem, just like the one the UN just voted to correct on paper. At CV VC, we run an early-stage VC fund investing in blockchain and frontier technology companies on the African continent. Our view: the map is being redrawn in capital markets too. The question is who moves first.

🎯 What does a VC focused on the AI-native future actually look for in a startup? In a recent interview, CV VC’s new General Partner Kaya Tilev broke down the three things we weigh up when evaluating early-stage tech & specifically AI companies: 🔹 Domain expertise: Are the founders genuine experts in their field? We want to understand what models they have worked with, what excites them about the category, and how deep their technical fluency actually runs. That depth is what separates a real AI company from a bolt-on. 🔹 Category selection: We look to uncover whether the founder's accumulated knowledge can make an early dent in the category they are entering. It does not need to dominate the space. It needs to create a wedge. Once we see that wedge, it is a signal that the product is doing something genuinely novel, and something customers actually want. 🔹 Sellability: Our third test is whether the product can be sold in its earliest, somewhat immature form. If it is exciting enough, it usually can be. And when it is, we look for a team with someone genuinely passionate about selling. Together, these three tests are how we at CV VC are identifying the most exciting AI projects building for the AI-native future. 🌍 Africa's tourism sector generates billions in annual revenue. And yet, a meaningful share of that value has historically leaked out through payment processing costs before it reaches the businesses delivering the experience. Our portfolio company TurnStay was recently featured in TechCabal, outlining how they processed over R1 billion ($60.6m) in travel payments in the first half of 2026, helping hotels, safari lodges, tour operators, and villa agencies across the continent reduce the cost of accepting international bookings. The mechanism matters. Traditional cross-border processing can cost African merchants as much as 8% per transaction. By combining a merchant-of-record model with modern payment rails, including stablecoins for cross-border settlement, TurnStay is bringing that down to as little as 1.6%. That is not marginal. It is the difference between tourism revenue leaving the continent and staying on it. This is precisely the kind of vertical-specific payment infrastructure we back at CV VC: deep domain expertise applied to a structural inefficiency that global rails were never built to solve. Congratulations to Alon Stern, James Hedley, and the entire TurnStay team. Read the full article in TechCabal using the link in the comments
