Infinit-x_y_z : The Project Zomboid Map Generator
A downloadable tool for Windows

Infinit_x_y_z (a.k.a. Infinit‑Z) is a standalone tool for generating large, playable Project Zomboid maps with a few sliders and a lot of noise. It builds terrain, vegetation, rivers, roads, detail bitmaps and WorldEd projects for you—so you can focus on making cool locations instead of painting every tile by hand.
What it does
- Procedural terrain
- Perlin/fBM height-style noise with controllable scale, octaves, thresholds and post‑processing (edge ragging, speckle, erosion).
- Palette overrides to recolor water/grass/dirt/sand into any theme (desert, alien, toxic, etc).
- Vegetation & biomes
- Dual system: “banded” density fields + “layered” vegetation masks.
- Presets (overgrown, rural, meadow, marsh, taiga, etc.).
- Terrain‑aware bias so dense trees hug dark grass and thin out on sand/dirt.
- Optional vegetation overlay in the preview so you can see clutter on top of grass.
- Rivers that respect your world
- Gradient‑driven river paths with bendiness, curvature, branching and thickness controls.
- Bias toward/away from forests and slopes; avoid obvious self‑collisions.
- Seed & origin controls to gently nudge where major rivers start.
- Road networks
- Hierarchical generator (highways → majors → mains → side roads) or legacy counts.
- Per‑type angle modes (ortho/diag/free), grid steps, length ranges and cost controls.
- Potholes, towns, farm spurs and ignore‑water/trees toggles for fine tuning.
- Details bitmap (Rules.txt integration)
- Generates a details.png that lines up with WorldEd Rules.txt colors.
- “Quick item” families: flowers, leaves, trash, cracks, forest floor markers, etc.
- Terrain/vegetation/road‑aware placement (e.g. trash on asphalt, leaves near trees).
- WorldEd export
- Writes terrain/veg/roads/details PNGs plus tile slices.
- Builds or updates a WorldEd project (.pzw) under your chosen prefix and output path.
- Designed so you can go from “new map idea” → “WorldEd project to tweak” very fast.
- Friendly GUI + previews
- Pink/blue themed UI with scrollable tabs for Terrain, Rivers, Vegetation, Palette, Roads, Details, Export.
- Thumbnail previews for terrain, vegetation, rivers, combo, roads, and details.
- Live Update mode for rapid iteration; per‑tab random seed and “random sliders” buttons for exploring new looks.
How to use (short version)
- Launch the EXE (no Python required in this build).
- On the Terrain / Vegetation / Rivers / Roads tabs, set a preset, then tweak sliders.
- Use Random Seed to re‑roll patterns, or Random Sliders to get a completely new feel.
- Keep an eye on the thumbnails on the right; enable/disable previews in the Preview tab.
- When you like what you see, go to Export (and/or hit the INFINIT‑Z button) to generate tiles and a WorldEd project.
- Open the project in WorldEd for final polishing, buildings, hand‑placed details, etc.
A more detailed, step‑by‑step guide is available in the app under Help → How To Use Manual.
Requirements
- Windows (this build is tested primarily on Windows; other platforms may require running from source with Python).
- Project Zomboid tools (TileZed/WorldEd) if you plan to actually play on the generated maps.
Notes & credits
- This is a fan‑made tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by The Indie Stone.
- It’s designed to be deterministic: given the same config + seeds, you’ll get the same map again.
- Ideal for experimenting with large‑scale layouts, biomes and vibes before going in to hand‑craft POIs.
