When we founded Aitiologic, we set out to answer a question: How much more could a blood sample tell us if we could better interpret the DNA it contains? Today, we’re announcing an oversubscribed €6.4 million seed round to advance that ambition, co-led by Heal Capital and Ananda Impact Ventures. Our Aitios® platform combines molecular signals from individual cell-free DNA molecules with AI to infer their tissue of origin and reveal tissue-specific biological changes. We’re starting with preeclampsia: identifying risk in the first trimester, using the same blood sample routinely collected for non-invasive prenatal testing. Earlier insight into maternal and placental health, without an additional blood draw – with the goal of guiding prevention and closer monitoring. What makes this milestone meaningful to me is the progress behind it. What began as a technology concept during my time at Siemens Healthineers has progressed to published clinical feasibility data, with large-scale validation now underway with The Fetal Medicine Foundation. I’m particularly pleased to welcome Gordon Sanghera, co-founder and former CEO of Oxford Nanopore Technologies, as an investor and advisory board member, and Rebecca Ertl as our Chief Medical Officer. This Monday, we at PUSH had the pleasure of kicking off the workshop series with an interactive session on one of venture capital’s most critical - and most challenging - tasks: Founder Screening. At the pre-seed stage, there’s rarely much data, which makes one question central: Do we believe in this founder? We shared how we approach that decision: the signals we look for early, how we build conviction under uncertainty, and where investors often get it wrong.
