Keycloak container cannot find suitable driver for JDBC in multi staged dockerfile if I use ARGs #13612

I have my multistaged Dockerfile like below:

FROM quay.io/keycloak/keycloak:19.0.1 as builder

ARG KC_DB postgres

ARG KC_HEALTH_ENABLED true
ARG KC_METRICS_ENABLED true

COPY ./keycloak.conf /opt/keycloak/conf/keycloak.conf

RUN /opt/keycloak/bin/kc.sh build

FROM quay.io/keycloak/keycloak:19.0.1 as production

COPY --from=builder /opt/keycloak/ /opt/keycloak/

ENV KEYCLOAK_ADMIN admin
ENV KEYCLOAK_ADMIN_PASSWORD change_me

EXPOSE 8443

ENTRYPOINT ["/opt/keycloak/bin/kc.sh"]

I use ARG for setting build configurations. It seems they are not being used like that because I get ERROR: No suitable driver found for jdbc:postgresql://keycloak-db:5432/postgres error.

When I change ARG KC_DB postgres to ENV KC_DB postgres it works fine. Why is that? What am I missing?

Apparently ARG does not support the alternative syntax as ENV so it should be ARG KC_DB=postgres
