As part of our commitment to deepening customer relationships and unlocking opportunities across the continent, Sitoyo Lopokoiyit, Chief Executive: Personal and Private Banking Pan-Africa, recently visited Tanzania, one of East Africa's most dynamic and rapidly growing markets. The visit provided an opportunity to engage with customers, colleagues, business leaders and key stakeholders, gaining valuable insights into the evolving needs of individuals and businesses, the acceleration of digital adoption, and the opportunities to advance financial inclusion and sustainable economic growth. Tanzania continues to play an important role within Absa's pan-African presence, supported by strong economic momentum, expanding trade corridors and increasing demand for innovative financial solutions. These trends reinforce the importance of building banking experiences that are accessible, relevant and designed around the needs of customers. Reflecting on the visit, Sitoyo highlighted the critical role of digital innovation, human expertise and meaningful partnerships in shaping the future of banking. By combining these strengths, we can help entrepreneurs grow their businesses, support families in achieving their ambitions, and connect customers to opportunities across Africa. Through ongoing investments in digital capabilities, payments innovation, customer experience and relationship banking, Absa remains focused on enabling progress and creating value for customers, communities and economies across the continent. Thank you to our customers, colleagues and stakeholders who contributed to the meaningful engagements. Together, we continue to build a more connected, inclusive and prosperous Africa. #YourStoryMatters #AbsaAfrica #FinancialInclusion

NAMPO 2026 brought together the people, ideas and innovations shaping the future of agriculture. One of our highlights included launching Absa’s new partnership with AgriCo – a business that has played a meaningful role in empowering African agriculture since 1988. In this way, we hope to enable agribusinesses with access to solutions specifically designed for our local landscape, with a focus on making better use of water and energy and building equipment that lasts. It’s this kind of practical, locally relevant innovation that drives long-term resilience of the sector. At Absa Business Banking, we’re proud to back the businesses who are moving the sector forward. Because backing agriculture ultimately means backing livelihoods, communities and the future of our economy. Thank you to everyone who engaged and connected with us at NAMPO. Let’s continue the conversation. For solutions that empower your business growth, visit https://lnkd.in/eVNEaWmw #YourStoryMatters #BusinessBanking #NAMPO2026

Happy Heritage Day, South Africa! South Africa’s strength lies in its diversity. We come from different cultures, speak different languages and carry on different traditions, yet our stories have a unique way of bringing us together. This Heritage Day, we celebrate the many voices that make up our nation by asking the cast of For Better or For Whatever to say the title in their home languages. The result is a celebration of the diversity that makes South Africa so special and a reminder that while our languages may differ, our stories often connect us in meaningful ways. How would you say For Better or For Whatever in your home language? Watch the video and join us tomorrow as For Better or For Whatever drops on Absa’s YouTube Shorts. Through a relatable, proudly South African story, the series explores how to manage and protect your finances so you can proudly say: “I grew it.” #YourStoryMatters #ForBetterOrForWhatever #AbsaFinancialWellness

The future of banking is built on the frontline. During his visit to Tanzania, Sitoyo Lopokoiyit, Chief Executive: Personal and Private Banking Pan-Africa, spent time with colleagues and customers across our branch network and hosted a town hall focused on the opportunities ahead. A clear message emerged: our frontline colleagues are the driving force behind our strategy. Through their insights, dedication and daily interactions with customers, they bring our ambitions to life, strengthen relationships, and help deliver meaningful outcomes for the communities we serve. As we continue to deepen our presence in East Africa, markets such as Tanzania play an increasingly important role in our growth journey, combining strong local opportunity with the strength of Absa's pan-African network. By staying close to our customers, listening to our colleagues, and empowering our frontline teams, we are building a more customer-centred bank and shaping the future of banking across Africa. #Absa #OnePPB #BankingForAfrica

Reflecting on Francisco Khoza’s Guest Lecture at UNISA’s Department of Mercantile Law South Africa’s payments landscape is undergoing a profound transformation, with far-reaching implications for financial inclusion, access to banking services, legislative regulation and consumer outcomes. At the centre of this evolution is the rapid emergence of innovative digital payment solutions that are expanding access to financial services and helping to democratise participation in the formal financial system. By 2030, Africa’s digital payments economy is projected to reach USD1.5 trillion, fuelled by internet penetration, financial inclusion, and fintech maturity. As technology continues to reshape the way people transact, save and manage their finances, banks face a critical balancing act: driving innovation while ensuring customer security, maintaining system resilience and advancing financial inclusion. From a legal perspective, this transformation presents a unique intersection of commercial and banking law, regulatory reform and digital disruption, requiring thoughtful oversight to ensure that progress benefits all South Africans. Against this backdrop, UNISA's Department of Mercantile Law recently hosted Francisco Khoza, General Counsel of Absa to deliver a guest lecture on behalf of Kenny Fihla, Absa Group Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Banking Association South Africa (BASA), titled: “The Payments Revolution: Modernising South Africa’s Payment System Without Leaving Anyone Behind.” Drawing on his extensive experience in the banking and legal sectors, Khoza shared insights on the opportunities and challenges presented by South Africa's evolving payments ecosystem, highlighting the importance of collaboration between regulators, financial institutions, policymakers and academia to build a payment system that is innovative, inclusive and fit for the future.
