Erie is a city on the south shore of Lake Erie and the county seat of Erie County, Pennsylvania, United States. Erie is the fifth-largest city in Pennsylvania and the largest city in Northwestern Pennsylvania with a population of 94,831 at the 2020 census. The estimated population in 2023 had decreased to 92,732. The Erie metropolitan area, equivalent to all of Erie County, had a population of 270,876 as of the 2020 United States Census. The Erie–Meadville combined statistical area had a population of 354,814 at the 2020 census. Erie is located approximately 80 mi from Buffalo, 90 mi from Cleveland, and 120 mi from Pittsburgh. Erie's manufacturing sector remains prominent in the local economy, while insurance, healthcare, higher education, technology, service industries, and tourism are emerging as significant economic drivers. Like the other Great Lakes port cities, Erie is accessible to the oceans via the Lake Ontario and St. Lawrence River network in Canada. The local climate is humid, four-seasonal, and snowy, with warm summers and harsh winters, owing to its southern lakeshore location.

Waldameer Park & Water World is an amusement park and water park at the base of Presque Isle in Erie, Pennsylvania, United States. Waldameer is the fourth oldest amusement park in Pennsylvania, the tenth oldest in the nation, and one of only thirteen trolley parks still operating in the country. It is home to several notable rides, including the Ravine Flyer II roller coaster.

Ravine Flyer II is a hybrid wooden roller coaster located at Waldameer & Water World in Erie, Pennsylvania. It was ranked as the Best New Ride of 2008 by the Amusement Today magazine. Ravine Flyer II was built on the site of the park's old Ravine Flyer roller coaster, which was dismantled in 1938 after a man died on it. Initial concepts for the replacement ride were developed by Custom Coasters International in the early 1990s, further developed by Dennis McNulty several years later, then finalized and constructed by The Gravity Group, with Jeff Mason overseeing construction.

Splash Lagoon Indoor Waterpark Resort is a large Polynesian-themed indoor water park located in Erie, Pennsylvania. The park is approximately 80000 sqft. It features nine water slides, two hot tubs, one large activity pool, a five-story activity tree house play structure, a toddler play pool, a 30,000 sqft wave pool, a FlowRider, and a 6500 sqft arcade. The resort is connected to a Wyndham Garden (formerly Holiday Inn Express), Hawthorn Suites (formerly Residence Inn), and a Comfort Inn, along with Quaker Steak and Lube restaurant & bowling alley.

Comet is a wooden roller coaster located at Waldameer & Water World in Erie, Pennsylvania. It was designed by Herbert Schmeck and built by Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters in 1951. It is similar to other Schmeck-designed PTC junior wooden coasters which feature a layered, figure-8/oval layout. However, Comet is taller than the previous junior wooden coaster designs. Comet is an ACE Coaster Classic.
