In answer to a question I get asked often by friends colleagues outside the USA, I am pleased to see that Google is bringing AI Mode in Google Search to more people around the world. AI Mode is available in 35 new languages and over 40 new countries and territories. I just open-sourced a small project that might help anyone experimenting with Japanese Text-to-Speech models. The Japanese TTS Web Server is a FastAPI-based playground for testing and comparing Parler TTS, Canary TTS, and Fish-Speech. It includes: • A simple web interface for text input and audio playback • Real-time generation and easy model switching • Automatic text preprocessing for more natural Japanese pronunciation I built it to make my own evaluation process easier, but decided to share it publicly in case it helps others working on voice synthesis or multilingual AI projects. At Furious Green, we focus on AI training and applied experimentation, and open tools like this are part of that mission. During today's user testing, the focus was on an AI chatbot tailored for American English. An interesting challenge surfaced when the chatbot was tested with UK English users. Despite clear task instructions, the AI encountered difficulty grasping a commonly used UK English term. This led to a user being unable to execute the task as intended, shedding light on the critical aspect of acknowledging language diversity within AI systems. This incident underscores the need for AI platforms to encompass various linguistic variations to ensure seamless user interactions.
