While at #DF26 I got the chance to sit down with will.i.am and talk about the new AI-world that we're all living in. Most of us know will.i.am as seven-time Grammy winner and founder of the Black Eyed Peas; but he's also an AI-Optimist and Tech Entrepreneur. I asked him something that's been on the top of my mind for a while now: How does he know it's time to switch to the next thing? We are constantly being shown new features that replace older ones. New ways of working that are better than yesterday's. Better ... well, better everything. So how do we cut through the hype and make the call? When is it time to change? will.i.am's response caught me off guard in a good way. "The world's not like that anymore." he said. Creative work, be that solving for a new business process or songwriting, has fundamentally changed. Having AI is like having a Co-Star. We used to need to fly the plane ourselves from ideation to materialization. Now, with AI, "I can do creative work ... creative completion in parallel with new creative sparks, and I could be present every step of the way." With AI, will.i.am is able to simply get more done. "You're not just in one plane anymore. You're in multiple planes." will.i.am reframed my question from a binary choice into one with no limits.
