ChatGPT Search Changes Retail Playbook Again

According to Promptwatch, Reddit’s share of ChatGPT Search citations fell 86% in August. A lot of brands spent the last year figuring out how to show up on Reddit because Reddit showed up so often in AI answers. Then ChatGPT changed how it searches the web, and the playbook changed with it. This is going to keep happening. ChatGPT will change. Google will change. New agents like Muse will show up. The sources they use will change. Retailers can’t keep chasing every change and rebuilding the playbook. They need AI working on their side that keeps finding the customer demand they’re positioned to win, figures out what to do about it, and keeps adapting as the environment changes. The surface changes. The demand does not.
