When I first met Sophia Jarvis, CFA at the start of 2025 and she told me about the idea behind Mia, I remember thinking it was brilliant. Last week, I had the pleasure of joining Sophia and the team to celebrate the launch of Mia Wealth and it was pretty special to see something I first heard about as an idea become a reality. What resonated with me then, and still does now, is the focus on helping families think about their children’s financial futures. Over the years, my daughter has received money for birthdays, Christmas and other occasions. I’d always intended to invest some of it for her, but with so much choice, I kept putting off deciding where and how. The money simply stayed in a savings account. So there was something rather fitting about attending the launch having finally done what I’d been meaning to do for years: opening a Junior ISA for my daughter. I’m a big believer in children learning about money and investing as they grow up — it’s one of the reasons we created a financial literacy course for kids in the first place. For me, this isn’t just about building a pot for my daughter’s future. I want her to understand what we’re doing with her money, why we’re doing it and, eventually, feel confident making those decisions for herself. Huge congratulations to Sophia and the whole Mia team on reaching such an exciting milestone.
