The internet democratized publishing. Blockchain democratized asset issuance. Our latest announcement of Exchange OS democratizes market creation. Exchange OS will be a major protocol upgrade on X Layer that will enable builders to deploy spot markets, perpetuals, or outcome markets on the same institutional-grade infrastructure stack powering OKX. The core exchange functions, matching, margining, liquidation, settlement, and risk, sit at the protocol layer, shared by every venue. You control everything above it: your frontend, compliance framework, revenue model, and market structure. For traders: a unified account and margin system across spot, perpetuals, and outcome markets. One pool of capital, expressed across any market type, without splitting balances across platforms. For builders: deploy any market type permissionlessly, run on millisecond matching latency and 300K TPS throughput, within your own risk-isolated group. Announcing alongside an incredible first wave of ecosystem partners: xStocks, Centrifuge, GSR, Amber Group, Flowdesk, Maple, Chainlink Labs, Glassnode, Nansen, Pyth Network, Chainalysis, Alibaba Cloud, OP Labs PBC, Defi App, Minara AI, Kronos Research, Volmex Labs, Fun The next chapter of onchain finance should not be built by a single platform. It should be built by anyone with a market worth creating. Read the blog: okx.com/learn/exchange-os

This push towards democratized market creation, leveraging a shared protocol layer, is a significant evolution. It really highlights how empowering builders with advanced capabilities shifts the focus. Like The Matrix taught us, the key question isn't what AI can do, but how we choose to use it, and similar principles apply to new financial infrastructure.

Most exchanges want users to stay inside their ecosystem. This feels more like turning the exchange itself into infrastructure that anyone can build on.

This is a bold vision for onchain finance. Giving builders shared exchange infrastructure while letting them design their own markets could unlock a much more open and diverse trading ecosystem.
