Why care about ageism?
- When you look at an older person, are most of your thoughts positive or negative? What about when you look at a younger person? So much of what you've learned about aging throughout your life is wrong, and it isn't your fault. We're surrounded by news, images and other media telling a story about aging rooted in fear, decline, and loss. Meanwhile, conversations about diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace are underway but age and generational bias or ageism is often missing from these conversations because we're unaware of its presence. Hi, I'm Tracey Gendron professor of gerontology, author and speaker and I've been studying ageism for over two decades. In this course, you'll learn how to develop an age-inclusive mindset using tools, strategies and activities that help you embrace the concept of aging. Understanding research-based truths about aging changed my life and I believe this course will be life changing for you. I can't wait to get started.
