- [Instructor] The Internet of Things offers numerous opportunities for consumers, businesses, and governments. In this segment, we'll learn how to safely integrate IOT devices into the network using a zero trust approach. The Internet of Things is a collection of tens of billions of devices attached to the internet that collect and exchange data using nodes, sensors, and controllers. For most of the early growth in the IoT, we didn't incorporate any traditional security methods such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems. The belief was these tiny devices were not an attractive target to hackers, or they couldn't possibly be susceptible to an attack. However, many IoT devices are vulnerable as they're small, have minimal processing, and are generally not able to defend themselves.
