Over the past few days, I had the opportunity to learn from industry experts, exchange ideas with colleagues and clients, and hear firsthand about innovative approaches to employee communication and engagement. The spirit of collaboration and knowledge sharing throughout the event was something special. The highlight for me was seeing clients I've had the privilege to support recognized with Rosie Awards. Seeing Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company of Central Virginia, ASM Research, RPI Consultants, American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), Ocean Conservancy and NOEL'S FIRE PROTECTION, LLC celebrated for their outstanding work was a proud moment and a reminder of the impact these teams make every day. A big thank you to Ben Bohonowicz, Hope Walker, Scott Melson, CIC, Kaylee Metzger, Chloe Giustiniani, Sarah Ehrlich and the entire Health Rosetta, a Public Benefit Corporation team for the insights, laughs, and partnership throughout the conference. That's why I am deeply honored to share that I have assumed the role of Chair of the Board of Directors for the Partnership for Quality Medical Donations (PQMD). I've been involved with PQMD for many years and have seen firsthand the value this community brings to global health and humanitarian response. I had the wonderful opportunity to attend NAESP’s annual conference in Orlando just before officially stepping into the role on August 1 - and what a way to begin. I met many inspiring school leaders from across the country who demonstrated so much passion, commitment, and dedication to their students and communities. I left Orlando even more energized about the work ahead and deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve this incredible community. There is so much for me to listen to, learn, and understand in the months ahead - and I can’t wait for all of it. Most of all, I’m excited to work alongside NAESP’s Board, state leaders, members and staff as we build on the organization’s proud history and shape its next chapter together. Here's the abridged version: 1) Don’t go it alone. 2) Build the organizational infrastructure to fight back. 3) Think of new ways to fund. (And please funders, resist the instinct to ask grantees to scrub language, hide their values, or water down their missions.) 4) Don’t close your doors too fast - consider partnerships or mergers. 5) Stay grounded and focused. It's a marathon, not a sprint.
