Korea Aerospace Industries designs the T-50 training aircraft, the simulators, and the training system as one. Their end-to-end fighter pilot training pipeline is one of the most widely exported training systems of its generation, and now includes mixed reality as an established part of. We visited KAI's headquarters in Sacheon to see it firsthand and explore how high-fidelity XR is preparing pilots for the complex, costly, and high-risk scenarios that can't be replicated in the air. 🇺🇸🤖🎮🪖 To keep pace with rapidly evolving threats, the US Army is turning to AI to accelerate the transformation of engineering designs into immersive military training simulations. The service’s Capability Program Executive Simulation, Training, Test and Threat has launched a $450,000 innovation challenge to harness AI for automating digital engineering workflows within its planned Digital Enterprise Engineering Environment. According to CPE ST3 Chief Technology Officer Marwane Bahbaz, the initiative will enable more immersive training by simulating “complex, modern battlefield scenarios” that combine live, virtual, and constructive environments to prepare soldiers for emerging threats.

Last week we showcased advanced XR at EAA AirVenture 2026 with Blackstar Flight Simulation. The Eclipse simulator is the first advanced aviation training device built from the ground up to integrate with the Community Aviation Platform, powered by the Varjo XR-4 Series for immersive visuals. “We built the Eclipse to be more than a standalone simulator. We wanted an advanced training device that fits the way a flight school already runs and teaches. That meant designing around the Community Aviation Platform from day one, and putting the Varjo XR-4 in front of the pilot for visuals.” – Stasi Poulos, President at Blackstar Flight Simulation. “𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐯𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐧 𝐡𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐠𝐨𝐭 𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐭. 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐢𝐭 𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐭” said Magnus á Stongunum, flight simulation training device (FSTD) manager at Atlantic Airways.   “Thales rose to the challenge. The result is an outstanding simulator.” There is no better endorsement than hearing this from the crews who rely on our simulator to prepare for life-saving Search and Rescue missions. 🚁   Designed in close collaboration with Atlantic Airways, the Thales Reality H® AW139 Level D Full Flight Simulator — certified to the highest qualification level for flight simulation — goes much beyond pilot training. Together with its pioneering, fully integrated Mixed Reality hoist trainer, it enables complete crew training in one immersive environment, bringing together pilots, hoist operators and crew members to rehearse the coordination, communication and critical decision-making that real missions demand. ✅ Adverse weather and offshore rescues ✅ Night operations ✅ Complex hoisting scenarios   Crews can now repeatedly train for both routine and high-risk missions, including situations that would be too dangerous or simply impossible to recreate in the aircraft. All with unmatched realism for maximum situational awareness and training quality. Because the goal of training is not completion, it's capability.🛡️   Today, this unique capability is attracting operators from across Europe and beyond, setting a new benchmark for helicopter Search and Rescue training.   Thank you to Atlantic Airways for their trust and partnership, and to Vertical Plus for showcasing what can be achieved when operational expertise and engineering excellence come together. 📖 Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/gxKtSxtd 📸 Photo credit: Uros Podlogar for Vertical Magazine   #Thales #RealityH #FFS #Helicopter #AW139 #FlightSimulation #SearchAndRescue #SAR #PilotTraining #Aviation #Innovation

Pilot training is complex, costly and high pressure. Identifying performance challenges early can make a significant difference to training outcomes. Our latest case study explores how Cineon's TACET-M platform is helping deliver more objective, data-driven assessment of trainee pilot performance in defence training environments. Tested with trainees at RAF Cranwell as part of UKMFTS Phase 1 training, TACET-M combines Mixed Reality, eye-tracking and behavioural AI within a fixed-base simulator using the Varjo XR-4 Focal Edition headset. TACET-M helps instructors gain objective insight into the human factors that underpin airmanship, including situational awareness, mental capacity and resource management.
