By bringing together industry stakeholders, the BUILD Foundation formalizes common investment to ensure the ecosystem's long-term viability, security and independent development. Only 39 out of more than 100 empirical studies on developer experience actually connected DevEx improvements to business outcomes and KPIs. In a new blog, Ana Jimenez Santamaria of the Linux Foundation highlights the gaps in developer experience, and what managers can learn from Optimizing Developer Experience for High Engineering Performance, described in detail in a report by Dr. Ibrahim Haddad, Ph.D. The report identifies three improvement pillars: streamline workflows and reduce bureaucracy, invest in integrated tools and infrastructure, and build a supportive culture. Ana also applies the framework to agent-assisted development, arguing that as developers increasingly work through AI agents, the same questions apply: do those agents have the guidance, tools, and access they need to get the work done? Every agent session starts cold. Compaction drops the early decisions, a system crash loses your spot, and the next run (or the next agent) has to re-derive what was happening. This webinar will share what teams are converging on for agents that outlive their context window. Keeping state outside the window, handing off before it fills up, and verifying when resuming the work the next day. We will show how a coding agent hits its limit mid-task and hands off to a second agent on another coding harness, which picks up the previous task without needing to reopen settled decisions or retry rejected fixes. We will discuss agentic context handoff through an agent skill as well as through a deterministic harness hook.
