We often treat the climate crisis and the inequality crisis as separate challenges. But they are deeply linked. In our latest episode, the authors of the Global Justice Report argue that climate policy has too often taken a "classless ecology" approach—trying to solve environmental problems without confronting the power and wealth inequalities that drive them. As Cornelia Mohren (Nelly) explains, the report asks us to think social and environmental questions together: who is causing environmental damage, who is benefiting from it, and who is suffering its consequences? The answer matters because, today, those with the greatest wealth also have the greatest power to shape the transition. But, as Nelly argues, decisions about our collective future "shouldn't be in the hands of the ultra-rich." The authors believe another path is possible—one where shared prosperity and planetary habitability go hand in hand.
