  • Our technology has been peer-reviewed in Nature Energy, published yesterday with the University of Delaware. The paper reports the cell at the core of our system: nickel-hydroxide battery chemistry that captures CO₂ as it charges and releases it as it discharges - without heat or solvents. For the industries we serve, three results matter: A manufacturable cell ran on ambient air for more than 5,000 hours, reaching 0.46 MWh per tonne of CO₂. A nine-cell stack averaged 0.83 - against the 1.5 to 2.5 MWh per tonne consumed by most systems operating today. And the supplementary data includes capture at 1% CO₂, the concentration in aluminium smelter flue gas. Energy is the largest operating cost in carbon capture. These figures are now in the public record, measured over thousands of hours and examined through peer review. The research was covered by Carbon Pulse "DAC battery technology requires 50% less energy" and Carbon Capture Journal "RepAir's is the only carbon capture technology based entirely on dry chemistry, with no solvents, liquids or heat at any stage" Read the full paper: https://lnkd.in/eh-X4y4v Congratulations to our co-authors at the University of Delaware and to our R&D team in Israel.

  • We're hiring a Production Line Technician 🔧 The electrodes made on our production line go into the world's only solid-state electrochemical carbon capture system purpose-built for diluted CO₂ sources. A lot of technician jobs out there ask you to keep a process running, but we want you to help invent it. You'll run our electrode production line at our facility in Mevo Carmel (Yokneam), from slurry preparation and coating to cell and stack assembly, working alongside our process and mechanical engineers as we scale from pilot to serial manufacturing. Experience with fuel cells, batteries or electrolyzers is a plus. Full details in the job description below. Come join us! https://lnkd.in/ePFJmneW

  • Last week we took a short break from the lab and our desks. Our team gathered at Michmoret Beach for our end-of-quarter event. A few hours of SUP, some sun, and time together away from the day-to-day. We spend most of our time solving challenging, and important, problems - capturing CO₂ from diluted streams is no easy feat, and it takes a motivated, hard working team to do it. Days like this one remind us of how lucky we are to have exactly that. Back to work now - but some a snapshot of our time together first 🌊

  • This week our VP R&D Neta Elool Dov represented RepAir at the Residence of the Office of the President of the state of Israel. The event brought together Israeli innovators backed by EIC - European Innovation Council, European Research Council (ERC) and other programmes built through the partnership between the European Union and Israel. Europe is where carbon pricing is tangible, where industrial emitters really have to act, and where a lot of our commercial conversations are happening. Being counted among the companies this partnership supports matters hugely to us. Thank you to the organisers and to the President's Office for hosting. Good to see so much Israeli science pointed at problems the world needs solved. 📷 Neta with fellow innovators at the event!

  • The UN Environment Programme published its report Limiting Overshoot last week. Its conclusion: the world will exceed 1.5°C of warming, probably within the next few years. It is blunt about carbon removal: removal is necessary. The pathway back below 1.5°C depends on it. The report is clear that removal is "not a substitute for rapid emission reduction". That is true. But rapid reduction is not always possible, and for a share of industrial emissions there is a strong case for novel removal and capture methods. For most of the economy, reduction means electrifying and improving efficiency. Some emissions don't have that option: process emissions from smelting and glass, or gas turbines running where the grid can't reach. For these, the choice is capture at the source now, or removal from the atmosphere later. The overshoot era raises the price of ignoring that choice.

Bids for Germany's second carbon contracts for difference (CCfD) round closed yesterday and as carbon capture projects are eligible for the first time, I am looking forward to seeing the projects that will be enabled to progress. A carbon price tells industry the cost of emitting but it doesn't tell a lender what a capture project earns. A CCfD does. It converts a volatile compliance cost into a contracted revenue line you can put in front of a credit committee. For years, capture projects have stalled and Germany closing the gap for hard-to-abate sites is a great development for Europe.  Article from Clean Energy Wire in the comments!

  • The RepAir team had a productive trip to China in August - read more on the key themes from their discussions from Jean-Philippe Hiegel

Last week, Amir Shiner and I were in China, where nearly 60% of the world's primary aluminium is produced. One theme emerged in almost every discussion: decarbonisation has become a commercial question. ETS and CBAM were designed with European industry in mind, but they're now shaping investment decisions well beyond Europe. The producers we met in China, and those we're speaking to in India and the Gulf, understand that competitiveness in aluminium will increasingly depend on carbon intensity, alongside cost and quality. They want to keep their access to the European market, and they're watching what their competitors do very closely. A policy written in Brussels is changing how smelters across the world plan their investments and maintain access to key markets. #Aluminium #Decarbonisation #CBAM #EUETS #IndustrialDecarbonisation #CleanIndustry #ClimateTech

  • BNEF put a new number on carbon compliance this week: $95.8bn in allowance costs in 2026, and $1.4 trillion of exposure for thousands of companies over the next decade. None of that money captures any carbon. It just pays for the right to keep emitting - and the bill goes up every year as caps tighten and free allocation phases out. Somewhere in that curve is a crossover: the point where capturing your CO₂ costs less than paying to emit it. For dilute, hard-to-abate sources - aluminium smelters, gas-fired power - that crossover used to be theoretical, because no capture technology worked at those concentrations at a sensible cost. That’s changing now. For anyone with a rising allowance bill, there is a calculation to be done and a decision to be made. Read more in the BusinessGreen article from Stuart Stone in the comments.
