Patients with rheumatic diseases face unique TB screening challenges. Evidence from three new studies shows that QFT-Plus helps reliably identify TB infection among immunocompromised individuals, supporting risk-based screening decisions across care settings. Learn more ➡️https://lnkd.in/eJzvdm66 Across both endemic and low-prevalence settings, these studies highlight the importance of routine screening for TB infection in patients receiving or preparing to receive immunosuppressive therapies. Researchers found that QFT-Plus identified infections that would have been missed using patient history and chest X-ray alone. QFT-Plus can also help clinicians focus follow-up testing where it is most relevant, supporting efficient long-term management of patients receiving DMARD therapy. Pancreatic cancer is one of the deadliest cancers, largely because it is so rarely caught early. In Brazil, one researcher is working to change that with a simple blood test. Read his story 👉 https://lnkd.in/dAqdv-CS Its early symptoms are easy to miss: back pain, fatigue, unexplained weight loss, all mild and often mistaken for far more common conditions. At the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation's Instituto Carlos Chagas in Curitiba, molecular biologist Mateus Nóbrega Aoki is investigating whether liquid biopsy, a blood test that reads tumor signals in cell-free DNA, could enable earlier detection and one day support a nationwide screening strategy. "We are using very sensitive and specific methodologies, such as next generation sequencing and digital PCR, to look for specific biomarkers for pancreatic cancer detection," Aoki explains. His team runs an end-to-end workflow on our technologies: stabilizing fragile cell-free DNA at collection, isolating and sequencing it, interpreting the variants and precisely quantifying them with QIAcuity Digital PCR. Sample to Insight, applied to one of the toughest cancers to catch in time. Catching pancreatic cancer sooner could give patients something they rarely get today: time. Helping researchers like Mateus win that time is exactly what we're building for.

A few months ago, two interns joined our project management team in Manchester for 12 weeks each. By the end, their manager recommended we do it all again. Lois Gardner from The University of Manchester and Paula Wasiolek BSc MSc (ANutr) from Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust were in the thick of real work the whole time, supporting team meetings, planning project timelines and building the documentation the team relies on. They also worked across different kinds of projects, which gave them a feel for how managing external projects differs from internal ones. It clearly landed. Lois said the placement "provided meaningful insight into the highly regulated biotechnology sector," and helping someone understand our world that quickly is exactly what we hoped for. Their manager, Mike Evershed, MAPM, summed it up: "Both integrated themselves fully into the Project Management Team, and I was very impressed with both their attitude and the quality of what they produced during their short time with us. Having their support on the projects was exceptionally useful, and I would definitely recommend that we go through the process again." This was part of our partnership with the NIHR Biomedical Research Centre: Manchester, and that recommendation is exactly where our heads are. Olga left Ukraine the morning the war began, with little more than a backpack. She had to start her life over from scratch. What she found at QIAGEN was a job, and something she never expected. Your genome is nearly identical to everyone else's. Your gut microbiome is not. It is shaped by what you eat, where you live and the culture you grew up in. That difference hides a real problem. Most of what science knows about the microbiome comes from populations that look nothing like Southeast Asia, so precision medicine built on that data does not truly fit the people of the region. In Singapore, AMILI is setting out to change that. As Southeast Asia's leading precision gut microbiome company, the team is building Southeast Asia's largest multiethnic gut microbiome database, with one goal: ground precision medicine in Asian data instead of global norms. Their work runs from microbiome profiling and clinical research to fecal microbiota transplantation for microbiome-linked diseases.
