1-h Foundation Workshop: 𝗣𝗕𝗣 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 – 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗜𝘁 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽𝘀 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗝𝗼𝗯 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 Project managers with strong track records often find that their résumés look interchangeable. Certifications signal competence, but most of them describe the same thing: the ability to run a project inside one organization. What they do not show is whether a candidate can deliver results where money changes hands – in projects performed under contract, across corporate borders, with a customer on one side and a contractor on the other. That is the space in which most project work today is done, and it is where hiring managers are looking for people who understand margins, contract obligations, claims, and the dynamics between customer and contractor organizations. The 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 (𝗣𝗕𝗣) credential of the Project Business Foundation was created for exactly this profile. This one-hour workshop shows how the PBP qualification and certification strengthens a job search in practice and how it fits into the 𝟮-𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 recruiters commonly use. 𝗧𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗠𝗢𝘀 in Project Business Companies that run projects for paying customers are under massive pressure today: profitability, liquidity, and customer loyalty are on the line. At the same time, the budgets of their training departments are under scrutiny. When management asks what they contribute to the company's business success, they should have a simple, compelling answer: “𝗪𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲.” This presentation is made for them – so they are prepared when management asks how they help ensure that money in those projects is earned, not burned.

𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲: 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗠 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 The PM World Journal and PMWorldLibrary.net have listed me among their Honorary Industry Advisors. My thanks go to David Pells and his team for the trust and for many years of collaboration. What makes this special is the industry field under my name: 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 – contracts, negotiations, contractor alliances, conflict resolution. The discipline of doing projects across corporate borders now stands alongside construction, engineering, and technology as a field in its own right. Advisor to a library is a fitting role, because the knowledge is there – in the journal archives and in the case studies of contracts that went right and wrong. The organizations that keep learning about Project Business the hard way, one bad contract at a time, are not paying for a lack of published knowledge. They are paying for not having read it. https://lnkd.in/e4PhnEbr

We're twenty minutes into the vendor review and I already know how this ends. Slide 14. Scorecards. Green, green, amber, green. Someone digitised the whole portfolio last year. Planning tool, risk RAG, SLA hits, the lot. It looks serious. Then procurement asks it. Who do we keep. Who do we not continue. And now we're all staring at the same greens. Nobody wants to go first. Because the dashboard is last quarter. It is not the next job. I keep sitting in these meetings. More tools every year. And the keep-or-drop call still happens on gut, plus whoever complained last. So what would I actually want on the table before I put a name in the continue column? 9 simple points:
