PHP has such staying power. The first public release of PHP, known as PHP version 2, occurred on June 8, 1995. This version already included basic functionalities like Perl-like variables, form handling, and the ability to embed HTML within the code. Later, in 1997, Andi Gutmans and Zeev Suraski rewrote parts of PHP, which led to the release of PHP 3.0 in June 1998. This version introduced significant improvements and extensibility features.
