One Community Meeting became a global community. When PCI SSC hosted its first Community Meeting in Toronto in 2007, more than 300 attendees representing over 220 organizations came together to connect, learn, and collaborate around payment security. Over the past 20 years, that reach has grown to: 62 Community Meetings and Forums. 21 countries represented through host locations. 92,268 registrations across in-person and virtual participation. Behind those numbers are thousands of conversations, connections, ideas, and shared experiences that have helped strengthen the global payment security community. Payment security is a global challenge, and strengthening it requires perspectives from across the global payment ecosystem. Today, nearly 800 PCI SSC Participating Organizations contribute expertise, insights, and feedback that help inform the development and evolution of PCI Standards, programs, and resources. Through processes such as Requests for Comments (RFCs), stakeholders have opportunities to provide feedback on proposed updates, new standards, and supporting resources. That participation has continued to expand in both scale and reach. In 2025, PCI SSC seated its largest Board of Advisors to date, bringing together 64 organizations representing 17 countries and six membership categories. Regional engagement has grown as well. The Brazil Regional Engagement Board was established in 2018, followed by the India–South Asia Regional Engagement Board in 2025, creating additional opportunities to support awareness, education, adoption, and collaboration at the regional level. From global participation to regional engagement, diverse industry perspectives continue to be an important part of how PCI SSC approaches the future of payment security. #PCI20for20 #PCISSCTurns20

🤖 As AI becomes more integrated into payment environments, how should organizations approach the security risks that come with it? PCI SSC has published a new information supplement, Security Considerations for AI Systems, addressing both the security of AI systems used in payment environments and considerations for defending traditional systems against attacks that utilize AI. The guidance explores key areas including: 🔐 AI deployment and use 🛡️ Defending against malicious uses of AI 📋 How PCI Standards apply when AI is in scope 💡 AI use-case examples in payment environments Developed in collaboration with industry stakeholders, including the PCI SSC Board of Advisors and Global Executive Assessor Roundtable (GEAR), this new resource is designed to help organizations maintain strong security practices as AI technologies continue to evolve. 🔐 PCI SSC has published the PCI Key Management and Operations (KMO)™ Standard v1.0, designed to provide a single source of requirements for entities involved in the operation and management of systems that use cryptographic keys to secure account data. PCI KMO v1.0 covers the entire cryptographic key lifecycle, from generation through destruction, and is designed to support a modular “assess-once-use-many” approach. The initial focus brings together key management requirements for the secure handling of PIN and P2PE keys, while also addressing cloud-based and remote HSMs. The PCI KMO Requirements and Test Procedures and PCI KMO Program Guide are now available in the PCI SSC Document Library.
