Way to go VIRGINIA! 🎉 👏 On Labor Day, Governor Spanberger signed dozens of bills to expand worker rights, including adding Paid Family and Medical Leave in 2028. Virginia's PFML program will launch December 2028, offering 12 weeks of leave at up to 80% of the employee's weekly wage (up to a state cap). Over 80% of voters were in favor of state mandated PFL in recent polling, and over 62% of all Virginia households have children under the age of 6. This legislation is a major win for working parents across the state! https://lnkd.in/gbHhY5mJ

Thanks Adam Fishman for having our founder and CEO Dirk Doebler on the Startup Dad podcast. Dirk shared his experience of being a dad, his takes on parenting without relying on AI or tech, and the importance of #paternityleave. Check out the full video on YouTube or anywhere you listen to your favorite podcasts.
I had Dirk Doebler on the pod this week (founder of Parento) and the takes were quite spicy 🌶️ Dirk Doebler and his wife spent *serious* time before becoming parents asking themselves: do we even want kids? And if we do how do we raise them without giving up our own dreams and lives? Emerging from this process is a 3yo son raised with one of the most intentional, free-range and somewhat contrarian philosophies around. Dirk and I discussed: - The case for free-range parenting and how to let a 3yo problem-solve on their own - How to have your kid join your life vs. revolving around theirs - Navigating a pediatric feeding disorder (I had no idea these existed!) - Traveling the world with a toddler (30 flights in 10 countries by age 3) - Intentional tech, zero screens and why AI parenting is lazy parenting (🌶️🌶️🌶️) - Taking *two* paternity leaves and how to pull that off Check it out on Startup Dad - the clip below isn't even the spiciest of all the takes! Welcome to the team Gabrielle Healy Hayes 🐧🐧
I’m so excited to share that I’ve joined Parento as a Sales Executive! As a newer parent myself, I’ve experienced firsthand how life changing the transition into parenthood can be. It’s one of the most meaningful and often most challenging times in a person’s life. That’s why I’m incredibly grateful to join a company that’s committed to helping employers better support working parents and families through every step of that journey. I’m especially thankful to Dirk Doebler, Helen Leonard, Christina Carpentieri, and Jennifer Fox for believing in me and welcoming me so warmly. From our very first conversations, it was clear that this team is passionate about making a real difference, and I’m honored to be part of that mission. I am looking forward to partnering with brokers and employers and helping more organizations invest in benefits that truly support working families. I'm excited to start my new job! #newjob

Allegheny County is proposing a paid parental leave requirement for private employers. This would be the first-of-its-kind legislation on a county level, and a big move in a state with no paid leave program. If you're a local employer, now is the time to understand what it could mean for your business and get familiar with your options. ⭐️ alleghenyppl.com is your go-to resource

"It’s a fact: Most of your employees will have children, but the question is: Will they stay at your company when that happens?" Thank you TribLIVE for giving Dirk Doebler the platform to talk about the financial case for paid parental leave in Allegheny County. In his op-ed, Dirk challenges employers to re-imagine the cost of providing paid parental leave. Read more below ⤵️ https://lnkd.in/emd2nYWj
