About us

Mumsbooth Empowerment Initiative is an International Organization that focuses on helping women start and grow their businesses through our training programs: Digital skills training, Export training programs, Business and Vocational skills training. We help them access funds needed for their businesses, and provide a market place for them. The past 8 years, we have reached over 25,000 women across different cities in Nigeria like Abuja, Kano, Jos, Uyo, Ibadan, Port Harcourt, Benin, Yola and other African cities like Kampala in Uganda, Mandera Kenya, Accra in Ghana and Johannesburg in South Africa. We also have several volunteers across 10 African countries working with us to reach these women led businesses. We have created an awesome platform for women to network, start and grow their businesses. Through this platform and the work we do, we have been creating jobs and a sustainable income for businesses run and led by Women across 10 countries across Africa. Founder: Martha Tawiyah

  • At Mumsbooth Africa, we believe that every woman deserves more than an opportunity. She deserves the skills, confidence, resources, and platform to thrive. Over the years, we have worked with women from different backgrounds, including women with disabilities, equipping them with entrepreneurial, digital, and leadership skills that help them build sustainable livelihoods and participate meaningfully in society. Because true empowerment is not just about teaching skills. It’s about ensuring women have a voice in the decisions that affect their communities, businesses, and futures. This vision is what inspired the launch of HerCapitalAfrica, a platform designed to connect women to opportunities, visibility, support systems, and pathways to financial independence. Through HerCapitalAfrica, more women can access the tools, networks, and resources they need to grow businesses, create sustainable income, and amplify their voices. When women are empowered with skills, technology, financial knowledge, and civic awareness, entire communities benefit. And this is only the beginning. Together, we are building a future where every woman has the opportunity to earn, lead, contribute, and be heard. 💜

  • Happy Birthday to an Exceptional Leader, A Champion of Women, and the Heart Behind Mumsbooth Africa Today, we celebrate more than a birthday. We celebrate a woman whose life has become a bridge of hope for countless women. A woman whose kindness is not just spoken about, but felt in the lives she touches every day. Through Mumsbooth Africa, you have done more than build an organization. You have created a safe space where women are seen, heard, supported, and empowered to become the very best versions of themselves. You have stood in the gap for mothers, young women, aspiring entrepreneurs, and families, helping them discover opportunities they never thought possible. Your journey has been one of purpose, compassion, and unwavering commitment. Even when the path was difficult, your passion for uplifting others never wavered. You chose service. You chose impact. You chose people. Many women are walking confidently today because you believed in them before they believed in themselves. Many dreams have found wings because you created room for them to soar. Your leadership carries warmth. Your strength inspires confidence. Your generosity reminds us that true success is measured not by what we accumulate, but by the lives we transform. As you celebrate another year of life, may you be surrounded by the same love, encouragement, and joy that you have freely given to so many others. May every seed of kindness you have planted return to you in abundance. May your vision continue to flourish, your influence continue to grow, and your impact continue to echo across generations. Thank you for being a light, a mentor, a builder of dreams, and a relentless advocate for women’s empowerment. Happy Birthday to our Founder and CEO. Your story inspires us. Your heart uplifts us. Your legacy is changing lives. With love, gratitude, and deep admiration, The Mumsbooth Africa Team ❤️🤍

  • Nigeria Youth Futures Fund (NYFF) For many women, decisions that affect their lives are often made without their voices being heard. That is why this journey mattered. Through the Project START Youth Innovation and Civic Leadership Program, we brought together women with disabilities and women from different walks of life to learn, share experiences, build confidence, and better understand their role in shaping the communities they live in. We had honest conversations about leadership, civic participation, inclusion, and what it truly means to have a seat at the table where decisions are made. We explored the challenges women face, the barriers to participation, and the power of speaking up, showing up, and taking action. What stood out most was not just the learning, but the transformation. Women who arrived with questions left with knowledge. Women who doubted their influence left understanding that their voices matter. Because stronger communities are built when every voice is included. As we reflect on this journey, we celebrate every woman who participated, contributed, and embraced the opportunity to learn and grow. The conversations may have ended, but the impact is only beginning. Here’s to more women leading, participating, and shaping the future of their communities. #mumsboothafrica #projectstartbymumsbooth #TheNigeriaWeWant #NigeriaYouthFuturesFund #youthinnovation #civicleadership #womenwithdisabilities #women

  • If you've been following our work at Mumsbooth Africa, you'll find that we started with programs across different cities and countries in Africa with our focus being to help women START and grow their businesses. For children, we have exposed them to future ready skills through our programs with the goal of starting early. The past 8 years we have reached over 25,000 women and 4,500 children and we're pushing even further through the structured system we have built Now here's what we have done!! Through Project START Academy, we have children train physically at our center in Abuja, virtual classes for children not in Abuja and we also have online age-appropriate courses they can take at their own pace on our Learning Management System platform. If you're yet to enroll a child around you, truly you're not trying for them...but this conversation is for another day!! For women-owned businesses and women in our community, we have provided access to funds for them since 2022 through grants from Mumsbooth Africa, donors, loans from financial institutions and companies we have partnered with for their CSR projects. It's indeed fulfilling to see businesses transform through the training and funds/Items we inject into their businesses. Now we have a structured platform where we are creating a financial ecosystem for women owned businesses called HerCapital Africa. In a few weeks time, we'll open up this platform for women to join the community....By joining, they get access to loans and to the market place where they can showcase and sell their products. This platform will also attract investors, as well as a matching system to the businesses of their choice (Think Shark Tank) We have created a working and safe system for all stakeholders involved and cannot wait to showcase this platform to you. So stay close...and reach out if you think you're a woman in business or an investor!! ask@hercapitalafrica.com

  • Looking through the first quarter of the year, reflecting on the work we’re doing at Mumsbooth Africa and the structures we continue to build across our initiatives, reaching women and children across Africa. We launched our Business Support Fund through Hercapital Africa, providing funding to women-owned businesses. The impact from this cycle has been truly encouraging, and it only pushes us to do more. In the coming months, we’re building a platform where women can join our community easily, access funding in just a few clicks, showcase their products in a marketplace for increased sales, and connect with investors looking for investor-ready businesses. Our Project START Academy, Africa’s platform for children aged 7 to 19 to learn future-ready skills in tech, entrepreneurship, and leadership is growing steadily. We are currently operating physically in Abuja and virtually through our learning management system. We’re also working with schools to integrate these programs into their curriculum, with the goal of reaching even more children. If you look closely around you, you might already spot our ads, banners, and flyers, calling on parents to join other forward-thinking parents to get their children on board. Our capacity-building programs have continued to expand, reaching more women and increasingly including women with disabilities through strategic partnerships. Through our Project START Hub, we are deepening engagement, making our programs more inclusive, and driving this vision across our community. We are optimistic about the months ahead and the impact we will continue to create across Africa. A big thank you to our partners, investors, and everyone cheering us on. If you see yourself as part of this journey and would like to partner or invest, please send us an email at ask@mumsbooth.com ...let’s build together!! . . . START.
