This week’s Friday 5 is Kyle Kim, from the third most beautiful city in Canada. 😎 What's your role at Litmos? Director, GTM Strategic Analytics Where are you based? Toronto, Canada What's the last thing you learned? With Odyssey making such huge hit this summer, I am recapping the Greek mythology that I enjoyed reading when I was a kid. It’s interesting how my perspectives on the stories have changed so much now since then. It is mesmerizing how relatable some of the stories and lessons are to our lives. On the other side, I've been spending time learning and keeping up with the flood of updates in the world of AI. What's your favorite breakfast food? Rice with over easy fried egg, soy sauce, and sesame oil. If you could teach a course, what would you teach? Finance or Economics. #westcoastbestcoast

Our VP of Learning & Enablement, Melissa Kruminas, sat down with Rodney Ray, Learning Program Manager at Canidium, to talk about how to turn #reskilling into business results. Here are 10 key takeaways: 1. Position learning as strategic by reporting directly to the CEO, which signals that learning is a core business strategy and not a side function. 2. Don't spend a year designing the ideal program. Design, deliver, and iterate quickly so people get value immediately while you refine. 3. Embed a feedback loop where employees can flag gaps and outdated content to help improve the curriculum. This reinforces their learning while continuously upgrading your programs. 4. Track velocity to readiness—how fast people become project ready—not completion rates. 5. Cross-training isn't optional, it's competitive. Canidium filled 40-50% of roles internally while creating growth opportunities that boost retention. 6. Blend multiple modalities—e-learning, hands-on exercises, buddy systems, AI tools—to scale without adding headcount. 7. Stay deeply aligned with business conversations. Attend practice calls and leadership meetings so you anticipate needs before they're formally requested. 8. Measure success through business outcomes such as revenue, and employee tenure. Leadership believes in the investment first; numbers validate it. 9. Create a culture where everyone contributes to learning. SMEs, managers, and peers all play a role in building readiness. 10. Don't treat every urgent request as truly urgent. Pause and ask if it genuinely needs immediate action. Most decisions can wait. 💡 Product tip: If learners can't find training, the problem may not be the training. Employees compare workplace experiences to every digital product they use, whether that's Netflix, Duolingo, or their favorite shopping app. Most admins think about content quality first and navigation second. Learners often experience the opposite. Take 10 minutes this week to review your learning catalog from a learner's perspective: - Can you find key training in 3 clicks or less? - Are course titles clear and descriptive? - Are there duplicate or outdated courses cluttering search results? - Is it obvious where a learner should start? When learners spend less time searching, they spend more time learning. #LearningAndDevelopment #LearnerExperience #WorkplaceLearning

Friday 5 is a series where we'll be introducing the real people behind the Litmos brand. 5 questions, 5pm (ET), on Fridays. Kicking it off is Mark Blakemore, starting his day with a pint (of tea). What's your role at Litmos? Senior Solutions Consultant Where are you based? Manchester, United Kingdom What's the last thing you learned? How difficult it is to mix vinyl records together! It's an ongoing learning curve. There's something about just using your ears and not relying on digital support which makes it all the more satisfying. What's your favorite breakfast food? It has to be either a bacon barm or a full English breakfast - with a mega pint of Yorkshire breakfast tea of course! If you could teach a course, what would you teach? I'd love to coach football (soccer) or how to DJ! I absolutely love football. It can be either just watching, attending the Liverpool FC matches each week, or when I play for my amateur team, Hag Fold, on a weekend – it's an obsession :) I've also helped new aspiring DJs learn the ropes and watched some of them progress into the music industry, which has been super cool. Either of those would be most suited to me :)

85% of leaders say their approach to training needs to change, yet only 7% believe they're actually changing it. With data showing that 39% of your workforce's core skills will be obsolete by 2030, many organizations are tackling this by deploying more AI to try to keep up. But Deloitte found that tech-focused AI approach is 1.6x more likely to fail compared to human-centric strategies. So the problem isn't the technology, it's how you're deploying it. Annual training can't keep pace with skill decay, and more AI tools alone won't work. Learning has to happen constantly, built into how work actually happens—where AI helps people do better work, not just automates it away.
