We are thrilled to announce our investment in MATERIAL’s $7.1M seed round, co-leading alongside Harpoon to support an extraordinary team and their vision to redefine energy storage. When we first met Gabe, Miles, and Chris last year it was immediately clear they were special founders with world-class technical depth and a bold mission to reinvent how batteries are made. Material’s HYBRID3D technology enables energy to take any form, unlocking performance and design possibilities that were previously impossible. This is exactly the kind of category-defining potential Outlander loves to back, and we could not be more excited for what’s ahead. Press Release: https://lnkd.in/gqTHkcSq Congratulations team! 🎉🥳 MATERIAL has raised a $7.1M Seed round, co-led by Outlander VC and Harpoon, with participation from GoAhead Ventures, Myelin VC, Demos Capital, and Giant Step Capital, and is executing a $1.25M Phase II SBIR contract with the U.S. Air Force. For decades, energy storage has forced products to be designed around the battery. MATERIAL is building a whole new paradigm by making energy adaptable to the product itself. This is about more than better batteries. It is about giving builders back freedom, unlocking new possibilities for performance, endurance, and design across defense, drones, robotics, and next-generation devices. Dead space is dead. #FundingAnnouncement #AdvancedManufacturing #EnergyStorage #DefenseTech #Robotics #HardTech #Batteries

New Ti Morse interview with Outlander VC portfolio founder Laurence Allen, Co-Founder & CEO of Terranova. Terranova is building robots that physically lift sinking land by injecting wood chips deep underground. Why it matters: land subsidence is a multi-trillion-dollar global risk already driving extreme outcomes: • #Jakarta is sinking so fast that Indonesia is relocating its capital • #Venice faces chronic flooding despite decades of massive infrastructure spending • #Miami is seeing flooding accelerate as sinking ground compounds sea-level rise Sinking cities don’t have to be a permanent outcome. We just led Terranova’s seed round with Congruent Ventures to back a company that is literally reshaping the world beneath our feet. Laurence Allen and Trip Allen are obsessive, brilliant builders who fuse robotics and AI into an army of machines that analyze the ground below and then physically lift and stabilize it. Flooding and land subsidence cost the U.S. over $180B every year, part of a multi-trillion dollar global challenge, and this team is tackling it with rare vision and execution. Highways, coasts, farms, cities...they can all be protected and transformed by what Terranova is building. We couldn’t be more excited to back these founders as they launch a new era of industrial innovation. Excited to share that Terranova is emerging from stealth with an oversubscribed $7M Seed round led by Outlander VC and Congruent Ventures, with participation from GoAhead Ventures, Gothams, and Ponderosa Ventures (a Galvanize fund). We're building terraforming robots the size of cars at our 16,000sq factory in Berkeley, CA, with one already in the field. Our robots use underground injection to lift land and infrastructure, protecting cities like my hometown from floods. We are hiring across 9 roles and looking for more elevation projects - join us in reshaping the world!

Lula Commerce just raised an $8M Series A, led by SEMCAP, with participation from Rich Products Ventures, GO PA Fund, NZVC, UP.Partners, Green Circle Foodtech Ventures, and Outlander VC. The idea behind Lula started when 🏪 Adit Gupta watched his family’s convenience store struggle - and eventually shut down - during the height of COVID. He realized that while 155,000+ convenience stores serve 160M people in America every day, fewer than 10% offered any form of online ordering or delivery. That insight became Lula Commerce: an AI-powered operating system helping convenience retailers get online. Lula unifies delivery apps, powers branded online ordering, and automates operations. Today, Lula powers 2,000+ retailers across the U.S. - including Circle K franchisees, Jacksons, United Pacific, and dozens of regional chains - transforming how an entire industry goes digital. Proud to have backed Adit and the Lula team early on in their journey and proud to support them as they modernize one of the largest offline sectors in America! #AI #transformativetech #RetailTech #OutlanderVC #PortfolioCompany #startups #founders
🚀 Big News: We’ve Raised an $8M Series A! Today, we’re thrilled to announce that Lula Commerce has closed an $8 million Series A round led by SEMCAP AI, with strong support from Rich Products Ventures, GO PA Fund, NZVC, UP.Partners, Green Circle Foodtech Ventures, and Outlander VC. Here’s why it matters: the U.S. convenience-store industry includes over 155,000 locations with 93% of Americans living within 10 minutes of a store, yet less than 10% of those retailers offer modern online ordering or delivery. That’s billions of dollars in untapped revenue opportunity. That’s where we come in. Our AI-powered suite gives convenience retailers the full toolkit to close that gap: ✅ A unified dashboard for third-party delivery (DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub). ✅ Branded web and mobile ordering through Lula Direct. ✅ 30+ AI-driven tools that automate everything from refunds to reviews to uptime We’re enabling retailers to deliver best-in-class digital experiences without added headcount. We’re already powering thousands of retailers from Circle K franchisees, United Pacific, Jacksons Food Stores, Par Mar Oil Company, Clipper Petroleum, and over 50 regional chains. With this new capital, we’re accelerating product innovation, scaling operations, and deepening our partner ecosystem, all toward our vision of modernizing a $1 trillion+ retail category. Come build with us! We’re hiring in Engineering, Product, Sales and Customer Success. If you’re excited about building at the intersection of tech + retail, check out our careers page. Funding Announcement: catalyx space has raised a $5.4M oversubscribed seed round to build the complete back-end infrastructure for space — enabling both upmass and downmass for the next era of orbital logistics. This brings our total funding to $7.1 million. Exactly one year ago, my friend Saqib Hussain and I left everything behind in India and arrived at LAX, hoping to build our new space company in the U.S. Meanwhile, our friends Clinton D Antony and Keerthan Chand Aluvala focused on developing spacecraft hardware back home in India. We joined the Techstars space accelerator and later HF0 Residency , raising a $1.7M pre-seed round in December 2024 from HF0, Founders, Inc., and Vaanam Space LLP before moving to San Francisco — the city I love most. The entire team relocated to SF in January for HF0. Since then, we’ve 5X’d our revenue, built a re-entry capsule, launched our first spacecraft, and completed our drop and landing tests. We’ve grown to a 20-person team and begun constructing a new spacecraft manufacturing facility in India. Today, we’re thrilled to announce our $5.4M oversubscribed seed round, led by Outlander VC , with participation from Arka Venture Labs, Lex Reddy, KDX Management LLC, Together, Higher Life Ventures, Nivesha Ventures, Prana Tech Ventures, Bria, HF0 Residency and Techstars. Thanks to the Almighty for everything and everyone who has believed in us. This round will help us demonstrate our next-generation re-entry and landing technology, scale our GTM, and execute upcoming missions. Multiple missions are already lined up — each bringing us closer to making orbital logistics as seamless as air cargo. We’re not just launching satellites — we’re building the operating system for space logistics. Time to get back to building, testing, and launching. The future of space isn’t one-way. Upmass. Downmass. Infinite possibilities. And thanks to some incredible people who have supported us from very early on, including Matt Kozlov Ahmed A. Mirza Furqan Rydhan Hubert Thieblot Qasar Younis Girish Mathrubootham Mohammed Kaleel Dave Fontenot Evan Stites-Clayton Emily Liu Bolbi L. L. L. Omar Waseem Arshan Ahmad Niharika George Weinmann Sahith Reddy Madara Awais Ahmed Gaurav Seth Pawan Kumar Chandana Niharika Naveen Thaneem Rayan Creative Destruction Lab and so many more.

We love talking with founders in the earliest days of building. We don’t care about revenue or traction, we just want to hear about your vision for the world. If you’ve got conviction in yourself and an amazing idea, we’d love to talk: www.outlander.vc Big thank you to South Park Commons' Dylan Itzikowitz for helping us host. It was such a great community-building evening of some of the top super early-stage founders building tech for the physical world!
Last night, I partnered with my friends at Outlander VC to bring together NYC’s hard tech founders, engineers, and builders; people reimagining how the physical world is designed, built, and powered. A huge thank you to Paige Craig and Leura Craig for hosting this incredible group in their home, sharing their story, and helping us advance our shared goal of supporting NYC’s hard tech community. At South Park Commons NYC, we’re focused on building density of talent, ambition, and collaboration across the city’s deep tech ecosystem. If you’re building in this space, please reach out to get involved. As always, S/O Jason & Rho

Founders — we want YOU. Yeah, you. The ones who’ve pitched in the trenches. The ones who’ve pulled an all-nighter, shipped a product at 4 a.m., and then raised a round with a smile that said, “Everything’s fine.” I spent 15 years in the military and war zones, and I’ve seen a lot of chaos. But nothing — and I mean nothing — prepares you for startup life. It’s chaos with a cap table. That’s why at Outlander, we’re not looking for bankers or analysts. We’re recruiting founders — scarred, stubborn, brilliant weirdos who know what it takes to build something from nothing — to join our investor team. If you’ve fought through the mud of building, you can help the next generation win their battles. This isn’t a cushy VC gig. It’s a mission. 👉 Check out the role: https://lnkd.in/e7Zp8SB8 ⚡️ No tourists. No spectators. Only founders.
