Sonita joins us as Senior Product Manager, bringing extensive experience in product management, strategy, and building successful SaaS products. She will help shape the future of OpenProject and ensure we continue to build the features our customers need most. Kristine joins us as Migration and Consulting Lead, bringing 10+ years of experience in IT consulting, with deep expertise in guiding organizations through complex technology and migration projects. She will help organizations make their transition to OpenProject as smooth and successful as possible. Together, they strengthen two essential parts of our mission: building a great product and helping organizations adopt it with confidence. Welcome to OpenProject, Sonita and Kristine! OpenProject 17.7 is coming on August 5. 🚀 The upcoming release introduces powerful new capabilities to help teams plan resources, improve organizational management, and streamline project execution. Here's a sneak peek: • A brand-new Resource management module for capacity planning and staffing (Premium plan) • Enhanced organizational management with Departments, job titles, and configurable working hours • Improvements to Backlog and sprints, including support for multiple active sprints without sharing (Basic plan), multi-select filters, and a smoother drag-and-drop experience • New PM²/PMflex enhancements, featuring artefact export and a dedicated widget for project phases and gates overview ...and much more. 🎥 Get ready for the release on August 5.

Good project management requires good communication and the flexibility to decide how and where information is shared. Let's take a quick deep dive into one of OpenProject's small but highly effective features: Internal comments. When you mark a comment in a work package as “internal”, it becomes visible only to a defined group of people. While OpenProject already gives teams fine-grained control over who can see and do what, this feature lets teams maintain a single source of truth even when a single work package holds information of varying confidentiality. They can share work packages with partners and external collaborators to show progress, while still working through the details privately within their own internal workflow. The EuroCommons TechSprint in Paris brought together organizations working toward a stronger, more sovereign European digital ecosystem. It was a pleasure to connect with inspiring partners and communities, including Groupe Caisse des Dépôts, TOSIT (The Open Source I Trust), OW2, XWiki, and many others who share a joint vision: reducing dependency on proprietary software and building trusted open source alternatives together. 🇪🇺 An ecosystem becomes strong when it starts building together. Innovation is not just about technology. It is about bringing together those who face common challenges and those who can help solve them. This is exactly what is happening with EuroCommons with Aymeril Hoang When end users, CIOs, open source communities, foundations, and European software vendors align around a shared objective, they create more than a product: they create a digital common. A collective asset, shaped by its users, governed in the open, and designed to serve real needs. The coalition highlighted by EuroCommons and initiated through the work of TOSIT (The Open Source I Trust) is a perfect example of this approach. Faced with growing dependency on dominant non-European platforms, a group of organizations decided to work together and invest collectively in building an open, European alternative with OpenProject & XWiki SAS This model brings together : ✅ Users expressing concrete business and operational needs ✅ European solution providers contributing expertise and innovation ✅ Open source communities ensuring openness, transparency, and sustainability The result is far more than a software alternative. It is a demonstration that when demand and supply collaborate around shared goals, they can create strategic digital commons that strengthen Europe's technological autonomy. This may be one of the most important lessons from EuroCommons: digital sovereignty is not something you buy. It is something you build together. German Bundestag report: Public authorities may require open source in public tenders. A new report by the Bundestag's Scientific Service clarifies that public authorities can require open source software in procurement where there are objective reasons, such as interoperability, IT security, or avoiding vendor lock-in. Together with recent rulings by the European Court of Justice, this is another strong signal for digital sovereignty in the public sector. We're seeing this shift reflected in growing demand from public sector organizations looking for open source alternatives that give them more control over their digital infrastructure.
