New from the OpenID Foundation's AuthZEN Working Group: two draft specifications for standardizing authorization decisions across any API, protocol, or AI agent workflow. COAZ (pronounced "cozy") maps any system's inputs into an AuthZEN authorization request. COAZ-MCP applies that framework to the Model Context Protocol, helping close the 'confused deputy' gap as AI agents act on users' behalf. 🌍 Introducing the Global Digital Trust Awards 2026 Today we are excited to announce the launch of the inaugural Global Digital Trust Awards. The Global Digital Trust Awards are a community-led initiative, launched together with DIACC (Canada), DIDAS - Digital Identity & Data Sovereignty Association 🇨🇭 (Switzerland), IT Security Association Germany (TeleTrusT), APDI Consortium (Asia) and the APKIC - Asia PKI Consortium, and coordinated by FIDES Labs. The Global Digital Trust Awards aim to discover, share and recognize outstanding real-world implementations of digital wallets, verifiable credentials and digital trust solutions from around the world. Real progress in digital trust is ultimately demonstrated through successful real-world implementations that create value for people, organizations and society. Starting today, organizations, projects and ecosystems from around the world can submit their real-world use case implementations across four award categories. The OpenID Foundation has launched the new Digital Credentials Harmonized Presentation Working Group (DCHP WG). The DCHP WG supports a joint initiative between experts of ISO/IEC JTC1/SC17 WG10 and WG4 and the OpenID Foundation's Digital Credentials Protocols Working Group to harmonize credential presentation protocols. It will develop a harmonized Digital Credentials Request Protocol bringing together ISO/IEC 18013-7 and OpenID for Verifiable Presentations, supporting both the mdoc and SD-JWT VC credential formats. As the identity community gathers at Identiverse 2026, the AuthZEN Working Group has some big news. It has approved two new Working Group Drafts - AARP and COAZ. These define how applications, agents, and governance platforms handle the moment policy cannot yet authorize an action. What CIBA did for authentication approval, AARP does for authorization prerequisites, offering a standardized way to gather what policy needs before a decision can be reached. This marks a significant step forward for authorization as software increasingly acts on behalf of people.
