Meet the Team! 🏍️⚡️ Tim Seward is ONYX Motors’ founder and Chief Design Officer. A lifelong tinkerer, he electrified mopeds in 2012 and launched ONYX in 2017 with the RCR. After designing shared-mobility vehicles at Bird, he returned to relaunch ONYX in 2024. Tim’s journey is defined by resilience. After losing his leg to cancer as a child, he taught himself to snowboard on a prosthetic and became a professional downhill skateboarder—proving that limits could be reimagined. That mindset shaped his design philosophy: machines should empower riders to express themselves and embrace freedom. As an industrial designer, Tim has worked with Y-Studios, LUNAR, Huge, and Whipsaw for brands like SONOS, Nike, Google, and Samsung. Equal parts designer and builder, he leads ONYX with a performance-first ethos and a belief that every ride is a form of self-expression. ———- Ivan Ceja is ONYX Motors’ Director of Operations and Sales and the operational backbone of the company. He joined ONYX in 2021 after Peloton, starting in warehouse assembly and quickly mastering every aspect of production before rising to lead service, sales, and operations. Ivan’s career began in nonprofit leadership and political consulting, where he ran a human rights nonprofit and advised campaigns for nearly a decade. That background shaped his values of advocacy, resilience, and community—principles he brings to ONYX today. Known for his hands-on approach, Ivan has rebuilt inventory systems, personally supported riders at events, and strengthened the bridge between ONYX and its community.
