Drupal turns 25 today 🎉
My drupal.org account is 11 years and 3 months old, so I’ve only been around for just under half its life, but it’s had an outsized impact on mine.
Here’s what Drupal has given me over that time:
1. The chance to travel, and to meet smart, generous, deeply talented people.
2. The confidence to design and build real solutions that solve real problems out there in the real world.
3. Stronger skills in PHP, Twig, CSS, and JavaScript.
4. The opportunity to give back through contributed modules and core contributions.
5. Scope to challenge myself - especially through mentoring and having to truly understand why we do things the way we do.
Along the way, I’ve seen Drupal power some incredible projects: Tesla, UNESCO, UNICEF, The White House, the University of Oxford, and the University of Cambridge among them.
I’ve also been proud to help build custom software and websites for organisations like Marks and Spencer, Virtus Health, Drainfast Ltd, and many more.
So thank you Drupal. And happy birthday!
Thank you to Dries Buytaert for starting it all.
Thank you to the Drupal Association for everything that you do!
Thank you to everyone who contributes to make the project more secure, more robust, more efficient, and easily the best open source development framework and CMS available today!
And thank you to Barry Fisher and Pivale for the mentorship and the opportunity to build a career doing work that actually matters.
LinkedIn wisdom says you should always end with a question, so here goes:
What would you build with Drupal and when do we get started?
