  • The reframe here is the important part: most incidents aren't a knowledge gap, they're a verification gap. Teams know the best practices — but no one confirms they actually hold across the whole payment flow. 🔐 Those four operational questions are a good gut-check. We built the 25-control framework with NOWPayments to turn that gut-check into something teams can actually run — together, across security, compliance, and ops 👇

As more businesses integrate crypto payments, the conversation is shifting. From our experience working with merchants around the world, most security incidents don't happen because teams are unaware of best practices. They happen because critical controls are never verified across the entire payment flow. Think of these operational questions: ➖ Can one compromised key move production funds? ➖ Are suspicious transactions detected in real time? ➖ Is there a documented response plan for a stablecoin freeze? ➖ Are AML/KYT controls embedded into daily operations? Rather than suggesting you another list of recommendations, we prepared a practical framework with 25 controls across 9 security and technical compliance areas together with BlockSec. It’s designed to help security, compliance, operations, and product teams evaluate crypto payment systems together. • 🗓 Weekly Web3 Security Roundup | Jul 20 - Jul 26 🚨 Spotlight on 8 notable incidents | ~$39.5M lost this week Signatures valid. Transactions confirmed. But for 7 years, the Zilliqa Ledger app was silently leaking enough information to reconstruct private keys, and nobody knew. ➡️ Allbridge ($1.65M): same Solana Pool account in both swap roles, second serialization silently overwrote the first ➡️ Wanchain ($500K): delimiter-free encoding let the attacker reinterpret a 3,097-token authorization as 203M tokens ➡️ Zilliqa ($400K): 7-year nonce bias in Ledger app enabled offline key recovery ➡️ Lien Finance ($542K): bond exchange counter tracked quantity but not identity ➡️ 4 private key compromises (~$36M) Full breakdown with on-chain traces and code analysis: https://lnkd.in/gtgv-tuD What's your take? Should off-chain signing code get the same audit rigor as on-chain contracts? #CyberSecurity #BlockchainSecurity #SmartContractAudit #Web3 #DeFi

  • 🛡️ BlockSec is a founding core member of the Web4.0 & Agentic AI Security Alliance. At the inaugural Web4.0 & Agentic AI Innovation Summit in Hong Kong (July 13), Cyberport Hong Kong launched the Alliance to build a trusted foundation for Web4.0 and the safe adoption of agentic AI. Yajin Zhou, Co-Founder of BlockSec and Associate Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, took part on behalf of the team — and we're glad to be part of it from day one. Why this matters to us: As AI agents start to hold keys, sign transactions, and act on-chain on their own, security stops being an afterthought and becomes the precondition for adoption. An agent that can move funds is only as trustworthy as the guardrails around it — and that's exactly what we work on every day: real-time threat detection, attack interception, and compliance for on-chain activity. Alongside Cyberport and fellow members, the Alliance will focus on: 🔹 Cross-industry collaboration on shared security challenges 🔹 Practical security principles, best practices, and framework guidelines 🔹 A repository of real-world use cases and demonstrations 🔹 Broader ecosystem participation The convergence of agentic AI and blockchain is moving fast. Building the trust layer underneath it — together — is where we want to be. 🚀 #Web4 #AgenticAI #Web3Security #BlockchainSecurity #Cyberport #AISecurity

  • A crypto payment system can be "secure" and still be exposed — through a compliance gap, an unscreened transaction, or an operational blind spot. That's the layer teams tend to underestimate. 🔐 This is exactly what we set out to cover in the checklist we built with NOWPayments: from wallet security and signing workflows to AML/CFT screening and stablecoin freeze risk. Worth a read before you go live 👇
