𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗯𝗶𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗜 𝗶𝗻 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 🧬 In our 2025 State of TechBio Survey (www.stateoftechbio.com), we asked our community members which ML models they regularly work with. Two names that stood out: Boltz (25%) and Chai Discovery (10%). Fast forward to this week and both just made major announcements: 🚀 Boltz officially launched Boltz Lab with $28M in seed funding, building a public benefit corporation to make structural biology accessible to every scientist. 🚀 Chai Discovery signed a mid-eight-figure annual deal with Eli Lilly. It's their first public pharma partnership, fresh off a $1.3B valuation. The tools our community is adopting today are becoming the infrastructure of tomorrow's drug discovery. What models are you working with? Drop them in the comments 👇

2025 State of TechBio Survey Results We asked 200+ members of the Bits in Bio community about their tools, workflows, and outlook for the year ahead. The results reveal a field that's becoming more technical, more AI-integrated, but not much more optimistic about the road ahead. Three trends worth noting: 1. AI tooling consolidated around Claude (60%, +28 YoY) and OpenAI (62%, +10 YoY), with the majority of respondents using these tools. Meanwhile, usage of proprietary/in-house models declined sharply (44%, -14 YoY). 2. More than a quarter of respondents do ML work every day (28%, +13 YoY), while those who "never" do ML dropped dramatically (14%, -11 YoY). 3. Sentiment in the industry remains cautious The "very bullish" camp dropped (9%, -11 YoY), while "somewhat bearish" continued to grow (27%, +12 YoY). Who we surveyed: - 82% work in industry (vs. academia) - Top roles: Computational Biology (35%), Data Science (24%), Software Engineering (21%) - 79% US-based, heavily concentrated in CA and MA 45% hold PhDs The full dataset includes breakdowns on programming languages, ML frameworks, lab automation, salary ranges, and much more. It’s our favorite time of the year again -- our 2025 State of Techbio Survey is now live! This survey is an opportunity for you to help give back to the broader Bits in Bio community. Its goal is to form a shared understanding of trends, progression, and the general state of tech & life sciences year over year. The survey is anonymous and data/insights will be shared publicly in early 2026. This survey is our shortest yet, and will take ~3-5 minutes to complete. Take the survey here: https://lnkd.in/g8KbPaF7 If you haven’t already seen them, you can find last year’s results here: https://lnkd.in/gwy2VZ8W!
