Last week, we hosted Bernstein University in New York. A customised three-day training program designed specifically for investors in the early stages of their investing careers (or those wanting to broaden their knowledge on the US market), attendees were immersed in Bernstein’s research culture and gained in-depth knowledge about industry sectors. Highlights included “The Ideas Exchange”, a master class in the art of effective idea pitching as well as “ECM 101: IPO Bootcamp” led by our Societe Generale Corporate and Investment Banking - SGCIB ECM colleagues. The course included extra-curricular activities including a tour of SUMMIT One Vanderbilt and a cooking class, allowing additional networking opportunities. We were also delighted to introduce a new session to this year’s programme on “Leading Effective Corporate Access” featuring guest speakers Christopher M. and Marc Silverberg from ICR, hosted by our Head of Americas Investor Access Laura Riegler, for an engaging discussion on how early-career investors can set themselves up for success when meeting with corporate management teams. Please join us in welcoming Sunaina Ocalan, who joins Bernstein as our Senior Analyst and Co-Head for Americas Energy & Transition. Sunaina has more than two decades of deep experience across the energy sector including engineering, strategy, and climate leadership, and joins us from Hess Corporation, where she was the Senior Director for Corporate Strategy and Climate Change. In her role, she developed and led Hess’ plans to achieve net zero emissions, which included developing their in-house marginal abatement cost curve as well as leading the landmark $750 million carbon credit deal with the Government of Guyana. Prior to Hess, Sunaina was a Director and Senior Consultant at IHS Markit, where she worked with multiple supermajors and independent E&Ps on country entry strategies, portfolio, and development strategies.
