Our roots run deep. As discussed in our second-quarter results, our companies have strong American roots and long-standing relationships with farmers that span more than 200 years. As our nation celebrates its 250th anniversary, we’re honoring that heritage by investing in American tobacco growers and their local communities as well as engaging employees nationwide through service and civic participation. As reported in our second-quarter results, recent FDA actions help expand access to regulated options for adult consumers. We continue to see encouraging signs that federal and state agencies are committed to stronger enforcement. For harm reduction to succeed, a more efficient authorization process and consistent enforcement over time are critical to establish a level playing field among legal manufacturers with high-quality, smoke-free products for adult nicotine consumers. Strong first-half performance reflects disciplined execution across our business. As reported in our second-quarter results, our operating companies continued to deliver against the priorities outlined at the start of the year: advancing our smoke-free portfolio, strengthening our traditional tobacco businesses and delivering significant returns to shareholders. In the first half, we returned nearly $3.9 billion to shareholders through dividends and share repurchases combined. Future dividend payments and share repurchases remain subject to the discretion of our Board of Directors Read more in our second-quarter press release at https://ow.ly/txxI50ZuLau.

Today's U.S. nicotine marketplace looks very different from the one Congress envisioned when the Tobacco Control Act became law. Adult demand shifted to smoke-free options, but FDA’s authorizations didn’t keep pace. An illicit market filled the gap. And FDA lost control. More than 70% of the U.S. e-vapor category now operates outside FDA oversight, making youth, adult consumers, and the public less safe. Restoring the integrity of the regulated marketplace is the path back — expanding legal choices for adults, strong underage prevention, and effective enforcement.
