As I’ve grown older I have really begun to embrace series that limit themselves to 8 episodes at 30minutes each. The whole season is like watching one big movie into bite sized chunks.

The reduction process has begun. The first part was that ridiculous basement. So much crap. The main pieces are sorted. Now the difficult process of removing items that may potentially have an emotional element to them - it’s sometimes a delicate balance. Then after the basement, the ground level will get sorted (including the kitchen) and then finally clothes. So much clothes.

It doesn’t happen very often but woke up at 4am and could not get back to sleep. Not anxious or worried about anything in particular. Not excited or filled with excitement about anything in particular either.

Just awake.

Summer is in full swing. As is the case with us, we’ve left our planning for a break to the last minute. I give us a pass on account of the fact that we have also been looking to move houses again. Hopefully this one will see us through the next 2-5 years.

📚 Finished reading: Gone by Jock. The influence of this book was clear and I loved it. Sure I felt the world building could have been a little better, but honestly it didn’t matter. The art alone is worth the price of entry, but if you like action sci-fi, then this is a great addition to the genre.

Toronto doesn’t need a thriving bookstore scene, it has one of the best public library systems anywhere in the world. What it does have is a great second hand book scene. You just have to go in, not specifically looking for something but rather in a browsing mindset. And all of a sudden you leave with a gem.

📚 Finished reading: Frank Miller’s Sin City Volume 1: The Hard Goodbye (Fourth Edition) by Frank Miller. The first book I’ve read in months. This has been on my wishlist for decades. I’ve read different Sin City books as they came out but never read the entire series. Wonderfully stylish, Frank Miller doing Frank Miller stuff.
