Is the role of QAs changing within engineering Squads? 🇺🇸 This isn't a topic I have seen posted about, but given that on 3 seperate calls this week with Engineering Directors/ SVPS - this come up on all 3! AI is generating code faster than teams can review it. And the question of who actually owns quality in that environment is got complicated A leader I spoke with yesterday has a QA in each Squad (5 engineers - 1 QA) They have moved the quality gates earlier. Building guardrails into the development process itself, so AI generated code has a standard to hit before it ever reaches testing This seems straightforward right? But with teams experimenting, learning as they go and building in a start up environment it raises a question If an AI writes the code, and it passes QA, and it still breaks in production - who owns that? The engineer does. It always comes back to the engineer Tools are moving so quick, but accountability isnt changing FinEx
