Exciting news for our sector! The British Business Bank has agreed to commit up to £135 million to two new Advent Life Sciences funds. 🔗➡️ https://lnkd.in/eZjEHPNX Leandros Kalisperas, Chief Investment Officer of the British Business Bank, says life sciences is top of their priority list for sectors they want to increase investment into, and Business Secretary Rt. Hon. Jonathan Reynolds MP says Britain's incredible life sciences expertise and facilities make us among the best in the world for medicines discovery. This brings the Bank’s total commitment across life sciences to more than £745 million across 17 funds, a huge vote of confidence in the strength and potential of the UK's life sciences ecosystem. As the largest investor in UK venture and venture growth capital funds, its commitments have leveraged over £3 billion from private sector investors into life sciences, showing how public investment can unlock significantly more private capital for the sector. Prof. Prof. Chris Molloy, BIA CEO, also welcomed the announcement, noting that this is exactly the kind of domestic capital the sector needs to help UK life sciences companies scale and grow here in the UK.
