Michael Levitt

Michael Levitt is a biophysicist and a structural biology professor at Stanford University.

Levitt was born in South Africa on May 9, 1947. He attended King's College London, graduating with a first-class honors degree in physics in 1967. Levitt got his PhD in computational biology at Peterhouse, Cambridge in 1971. He is a Robert W. and Vivian K. Cahill professor in Cancer Research at the School of Medicine, Stanford University. 

Levitt received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2013 for "the development of multiscale models for complex chemical systems". He was employed as an honorary professor at Northwestern Polytechnical University on Oct 25, 2017.

In February 2020, Levitt conducted professional analysis on the COVID-19 pandemic. He was one of the first scholars to guide DNA and protein molecular dynamics simulation, for which purpose he also developed software.
