Keep Android Open

 As you can see on my website, I've put a banner that tells when Android is going to be locked down by Google. As someone who could never afford an iPhone, I find it completely ridiculous that an open-source OS for phones is going to be restricted to what a bigger company wants you to do with it, AKA "rely on us, do not go independent". As someone who has worked on computers for years it's utterly baffling they would make such a decision, especially since you don't see Microsoft doing the same thing for their OS (they DO love to try and push you to use their products though). At this point, I'm privy to buying a used phone and installing LineageOS or any other open-source Android-based OS over being forced to a strignant ecosystem. I know it seels a little ironic since I'm using Blogger (owned by Google), bbut I been using this since I was little. Though at some point I will move to another blogging service in the future.

Burnout plus real life

 I been thinking on what to do next for my site, but at the moment I been feeling burnout from even just thinking about it. So basically I'm taking a short break. I think the reason is mostly real life has been kicking my ass as of late, it's been busy so... yeah.

Neocities

  Well, Neocities went down for a while due to a dispute over their domain name. According to the posts on Bluesky, they got a notification from Namecheap that their domain was suspended due to a court order from New Delhi, a city in a country that the creators of Neocities is NOT in. And apparently this was for a sports streaming site with a different domain. Their domain was NOT listed in the court order, however instead of looking into the matter, Namecheap had took it to face value and went with it anyways. They had to contact the offices in New Delhi about the situation and it took a little while before the site came back. But the fact that Namecheap just jumped the gun instead of investigating is telling that they need to switch to a new host provider for their URL. On top of Namecheap needing to fucking look into shit instead of believing everything said to them.

Waf.moe, again

I haven't checked any of my social media since I go and touch grass, but I was informed by Ashe a while back that Waf.moe is shutting down in June. I've already switched back to Homestuck.fr, a shame though, I did enjoy Waf.moe... But given it was a bit of an ambitious project I don't blame the mods and admin(s) for making this decision. Maintaining a website that brings in hundreds if not thousands of users can become quite a chore after a while.

Mail.com

So, we finally got access to our Mail.com account back, after a month of being locked out and hearing nothing back. It's safe to say that we are NOT using that service again, the fact we had got locked out due to signing up at Sourcehut is absolutely ridiculous. And we're also disliking services that heavily rely on AI for their chat services, it's useless.

Waf.moe

  Ashe had joined it, and after seeing that Bluesky functions work better on it than the one I was on, I finally decided that I would be using this instance instead. Homestuck.fr was fun but... it was not my cup of tea. I will be doing account migration stuff later.

Webring Created

  Finally got around to The One Thing™️ I've been wanting to do since I created my website: Create a Webring. Since I wanted to avoid using Javascript, I decided to basically use a website called Webri.ng to create it. Best part is that I can freaking ahhh create the widget how I like. Or not create one lol, went with the usual text-based one like a chad. Now to get my oomfies to join it so they can spread the love. :)
